Braxton's Grammy hit was ode to weed, not loveOct. 27, 2012, 10:53 AM EST Toni Braxton has confessed her 1996 Grammy Award-winning tune "You're Making Me High" is all about the joys of marijuana use. Fans and the singer's family have always thought the song is a sexy and sensual ode to new love, but the singer herself admits it's all about getting high. In a new interview for an upcoming "VH1 Behind The Music expose," she reveals, "A week before [writing the song with Babyface and Bryce Wilson], I was introduced to marijuana, and I got high for the first time and so I added that in the song. "In the bridge, I'm singing, 'I want to feel your heart and soul inside of me/Let's make a deal you roll, I lick/And we can go flying into ecstasy' -- I was talking about [rolling and smoking a joint]." No one dug deep into the lyrics and the song went to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also won Braxton a Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.

I recently saw Toni's BTHM and I enjoyed it. She has overcome so much and continues to press forward, and I find that inspiring.

I can't at Toni saying Oprah was mean to her when she interviewed her in 1998. She should thank her lucky stars that Oprah even bothered to take the time have her on period. I can understand her being uncomfortable about some of the questions that were asked about the bankruptcy and stuff, but what did she think Oprah was going to talk to her about on the show? Her almost nude Vibe cover? Her love life? This isn't the MAC counter, it's the OPRAH SHOW!!! www.bet.com/news/celebrities/2012/10/30/toni-braxton-oprah-winfrey-was-mean-to-me.htmlBraxton's Grammy hit was ode to weed, not loveOct. 27, 2012, 10:53 AM EST Toni Braxton has confessed her 1996 Grammy Award-winning tune "You're Making Me High" is all about the joys of marijuana use. Actually, on the Method Man and Redman song "How High" (part 2), Toni's vocals are incorporated in the song which is about getting high. Most probably didn't pick up on that interpretation of the lyrics.

What did people seriously think she meant by "you roll, I lick"??? Most people probably didn't understand what she was saying at all, with the way she mumbles.

Toni Braxton Talks Music & Moviesposted by Sista on November 8th, 2012 at 4:16 am Quiet as kept, singer Toni Braxton appeared on 20/20 last week where she spoke about her upcoming album, her return to acting and those pesky rumors of her having recently had plastic surgery. According to Toni, her new album, rumored to be titled Toni! Toni! Toni!, is being released via her own imprint thanks to a bit of advice she got from rock icon Prince. Toni says because she is releasing her music independently, all the proceeds come straight to her, effectively cutting out the middle man, better known as record labels. Toni says she is already reaping the benefits thanks to her recent single ‘I Heart You’ going to #1 on the dance charts. Toni wrote and produced the song with ex-husband Keri Lewis, who still has a hand in managing her career. With her finances looking up, Toni says she may be stepping away from her WeTv reality show to focus on acting. As we previously reported, Toni will be starring in the upcoming Lifetime movie ‘A Narrow Bridge,’ where she plays a black Christian woman who falls in love with a Jewish man. Shooting is set to begin in early 2013 and Toni says you can expect to see one of her sons make a cameo. As for those plastic surgery rumors, Toni says she hasn’t been nipped or tucked but wouldn’t hesitate to go under the knife to maintain her looks. “I work very hard to stay in shape,” Toni said. “However, I would be lying if said I never thought of having a tummy tuck.” If you missed Toni’s interview you can check it out on the 20/20 website.

It would be nice if she could finally have a throwback album like her debut. It's a shame how things have gone for her she is very talented.

Thrilled to see that Toni is finally going independent. She is obviously working with the right finance people and getting great advice (from Prince!). Now that she's saved a bit of money from her reality shows she can do things her way and retain some ownership. If it's anything like "I Heart You," then we are in for some good stuff!

Yes to her working on more new music. Recently been listening to her debut and I'm realizing how classic that album is. It's literally chock full of hits. Secrets is cool and all, but for me it's all about Libra.

Nice to see she's on an independent label, but she gots ta work that much harder to promote that material, which will be a problem.

Artists act like going independent means they'll inevitably come out with more money. But without that major label paying for your promotion, you're going to sell way less. I doubt she'll even have the level of success she had with Pulse going independent.

If she handles this new record just as her financial situation, then I wouldn't see her being too successful. I'm still puzzled as why she wants to push her show to the side. Her show should be the platform to promote her music especially going the independent route. Most independent artists would die for a hit show that could possibly display their music. She's not really a business woman but I wish her the best though.

She said Imprint not label...so it's highly probable that her imprint is on Epic records.

I don't understand how lazy her comeback attempts have been, now forgive me Toni if that's due to your health issues but she doesn't really seem motivated for reinventing herself or creating a space where she fits in, she keeps talking about how big she was and seems content to live of the hype of her first couple albums, they are flawless tho.

Hopefully Tamar's success encourages Toni to go back to adult R&B and stop putting out dance music and pop songs.

R&B singer Toni Braxton forced into LA hospital with ‘minor health issues’ from Lupus :'(
LOS ANGELES — Singer Toni Braxton has been hospitalized in Los Angeles.
The R&B performer says in a Tweet on Friday that she’s been hospitalized because of “minor health issues” related to Lupus. A spokeswoman confirmed the hospitalization but had no other details. “But no worries!,” Braxton wrote to fans. “I will be out any day now.”
The 45-year-old singer of “Un-break My Heart” revealed two years ago she has Lupus, a potentially deadly autoimmune disease that killed Braxton’s uncle. She also suffers from a narrowing of the blood vessels in her heart.
Braxton said in a recent “20/20” interview that doctors told her the Lupus diagnosis meant her performing career would likely be diminished and the disease helped push her into a recent bankruptcy.

THIS => "and the disease helped push her into a recent bankruptcy." Yeah, it caused you to have between $10MM and $50 MM in debt. Good grief. Toni has such a beautiful voice (one of my all time favorites), but she is a total mess.

Yeah, it caused you to have between $10MM and $50 MM in debt. Good grief. Yeah, that's a load of bull. I have a few family members with lupus and none of them have had to go bankrupt in order to live a relatively healthy life (and they never had that kind of money Toni had obviously). Lupus is fairly common and very manageable in this day and age.
