10/25 charts:
Oasis not only earns its first top 10 album since 1997, but does so with its first for Reprise Records, as "Dig Out Your Soul" enters at No. 5 with 53,000. The band's last studio set, 2005's "Don't Believe the Truth," began at No. 12 but with a larger opening sales week -- 65,000. The act last reached the top 10 when 1997's "Be Here Now" debuted and peaked at No. 2 with 152,000. The set -- the follow-up to the massive "What's the Story (Morning Glory)" -- spent one more week in the top 10 and ultimately 26 weeks on the chart. Oasis is also experiencing its highest-charting single on the Modern Rock tally in 11 years as new track "The Shock of the Lightening" climbs to No. 13 this week -- the band's best rank on the list since "Don't Go Away" peaked at No. 5 in November of 1997.

Well, Noel has quit at least.
"It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight," he wrote. "People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with [singer, his brother] Liam a day longer."

'Oasis' is the #1 topic on Twitter.
They're one of my favourite bands, but I'm finding it so hard to care at this point. Whenever people say they should have split up years ago I'm always the first to point out that they still release great music, even if it's getting less frequent, so I don't think that's why. It's just that they've done this so many times before, and even if this is for real, they're clearly not happy being Oasis anymore, so getting it over with probably is the best thing.

Fuck this. Oasis is one of my all time favorite bands. They are certainly in my top 20. If they choose to go on without Noel, it will never be the same band again.

Didn't this already happen a few times? I thought so. The brothers had a fight is what that sounds like....
Is Liam still a total drunk? THat can't help...was it MTV unplugged that Liam sat in the audience drinking while Noel sang everything? lol....
I like them actually, but...they are a hot mess.

I always thought they were kinda overrated, and had really bad attitudes. Well, Noel will probably have a nice solo career.

I am still pissed over the Jay-Z scandal. They had a couple good songs, but they are pretty much trash.

lol. Oasis have had a couple of stellar albums.
Noel's attitude is amusing at times but he needs to learn where to draw the line...

LMAO @ them managing all of this in about a week's time. Liam Gallagher: 'Mumford & Sons look like they've got fucking nits'Liam Gallagher has taken a pot shot at Mumford and Sons by saying they look like "they've got fucking nits". The Beady Eye frontman was talking to Q magazine when he took aim at the multi-award winning folk-rock band. It's clear Gallagher isn't a fan of the band, as he ripped into them with his iconic wit. He said: Everyone looks like they've got fucking nits and eat lentil soup with their sleeves rolled up. They all look like they live on the heath. Maybe that's where they record. "Everyone's fucking Don McLean — far too many acoustic guitars, no style," he continued. "They look like they shop at Oxfam. I wouldn't put any posters up of any band if I was a 16-year-old lad. There's none of that sitting down on fucking stools for me, sweetheart." Liam Gallagher recently revealed that Beady Eye are "definitely experimenting" on their new album. Last month, the band announced that they have returned to the studio with a surprising choice of producer - Dave Sitek. Sitek is best known as a member of TV On The Radio, but his production work includes albums by Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Foals. Discussing the band's new album, Gallagher said: "I hate the word 'experimenting', but we are definitely experimenting. In five words, it's 'majestic', 'imperial', 'out there' and, er, what was the other one? Oh yeah, 'heavy'." Beady Eye released their debut LP, 'Different Gear, Still Speeding', in February 2011. The album peaked at Number Three on the UK albums chart and spawned the Top 40 hit 'The Roller'. www.nme.com/news/beady-eye/67943Noel Gallagher: 'God is an Oasis fan'Noel Gallagher has claimed that God is likely to be a fan of Oasis. Gallagher, who quit Oasis in 2009 and released his debut solo album in 2011, revealed his theory to The Sun. Explaining how he will convince St Peter to let him in when he reaches the pearly gates, Gallagher said: “I’d say, ‘You’ve heard 'Don’t Look Back In Anger'?’, and they’d say, ‘Of course’. I’d say, ‘Look it’s me, let us in. I can play you a tune. I robbed some stuff, I took a lot of drugs, but I’m all right’.” Meanwhile, it's bad news for Oasis fans (including God) hoping to see the band reform any time soon. Speaking during a recent interview with C4 comedian Alan Carr, Noel stated that the band won't get back together unless their financial situation dramatically worsens. "What would it take? It would take Liam or myself to be very skint, and I know for a fact that ain't gonna happen. So other than that, I can't see it." The singer also spoke about how he will approach talking to his children about drugs, admitting that it would be rich for him to preach abstinence given his well-documented history with cigarettes and alcohol – and more. Gallagher said he was "dreading" his children's teenage years as he's in no position to lecture them, so would instead say, "Everything in moderation, lads. And just remember: you will never be as cool as your dad. Remember that." www.nme.com/news/noel-gallagher/67957Liam Gallagher: 'Fuck Oasis and fuck Noel Gallagher'Liam Gallagher has hit out at his brother Noel over the rumours that Oasis will reform in the future. Speaking to Q, Liam was clearly angry at the untimely demise of Oasis and launched into an angry rant when asked if he was happy for Noel and the success of his solo career. "Was I pleased for him? What, for splitting up my fucking band? I'm not pleased for him, no! I hope he's fucking happy but he doesn't look it." Noel Gallagher formed his band The High Flying Birds after Oasis split and released his debut album in 2011. Continuing to get angry about his brother, Liam started again when asked about the persistent rumours that Oasis will reform in the next two years. Currently finishing work on the second Beady Eye album, Liam stated that it was Noel who was behind the rumours and that he is far from happy about it. It was Noel who started that rumour, I’ve never said a fucking dicky bird. Fuck Oasis as far as I’m concerned and fuck Noel Gallagher. The thought of going onstage with that fucking idiot and hanging out with his daft mates, the pretend drug addicts and all his snobs from Sloane Street. Fuck that, not interested, mate. We’re Beady Eye all the fucking way. Liam went on to add: “I’ve got a new record, I’m buzzing off it.” Meanwhile, Liam last hit the headlines when he claimed that he is not a fan of Mumford and Sons, saying the 'Babel' band "look like they've got fucking nits." www.nme.com/news/beady-eye/68000

Liam Gallagher sends fans into a frenzy as he sparks Oasis reunion rumours
Taking to his Twitter page, the sideburn-loving rock star first left the letter 'O', then 'A' and carried on until he finally spelled out "Oasis". The last tweet from the 41-year-old then reiterated what he spelled out: "OASIS LG." Yes Liam, we can all spell the name of your band. His brother Noel, who he both loves and dislikes, has yet to comment on his arch enemy's cryptic clues. Oasis fans were left gutted when the two brothers, who were the backbone of the band, couldn't sort out their differences and split nearly five years ago. Noel told the BBC in August 2009 he couldn't face working with his outspoken brother any longer. "It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. "People will write and say what they like, but I simply couldn't go on working with Liam a day longer." Fans thought the band might be reforming after their debut album Definitely Maybe was re-issued for its 20th anniversary earlier this year. Come on Liam, just tell us already, we're on the edge of our seats here. www.ok.co.uk/celebrity-news/liam-gallagher-oasis-reunion-rumours

What's the Story? Noel and Liam Gallagher Could Reunite Oasis
Oasis’ feuding brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher are considering putting aside their bad blood and reforming the band. The Gallagher brothers are said to have reached a “gentleman’s agreement” to reunite the Britpop-era legends, according to an unnamed source quoted in The Mirror. The source apparently told the daily paper, “It’s early days in terms of the details, but Noel and Liam are back on good terms and ready to give things another go. Nothing is signed but it’s what you might call a gentlemen’s agreement between them.” The tabloid tale does manage to dampen enthusiasm by pointing out at its very end that Noel has “yet to be completely convinced.” When you think of brotherly hate and rock ‘n’ roll, the Gallagher brothers immediately spring to mind. At the height of their fame in the '90s, Oasis filled stadiums around the world and sold tens of millions of albums. But the Gallaghers' turbulent relationship ultimately forced the band apart. Noel left in 2009, and the brothers have been on particularly bad terms since. One of the lowest points came in 2011 when Liam launched legal action against Noel over his claim that his younger sibling had pulled out of a 2009 headline performance at V festival due to a "hangover" (Liam insisted his older brother knew he had laryngitis). Since the high-profile split, the Gallaghers have gone their separate musical ways, with varying degrees of success. Liam’s group Beady Eye never quite set the charts on fire, though its two albums cracked the top three in Britain before the outfit disbanded late last year. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds has had two album releases, both peaking at No. 1 in the U.K. The Gallaghers have teased a reunion on the odd occasion. In 2013, Liam told the NME there was "unfinished business" with his former band and that he would consider reforming the group for its 20-year anniversary of Definitely Maybe. A reunion never happened. Liam recently shared a photo of his AAA laminate for Noel's gig, while Noel told Q in January that he’d get the old band together if the price was right. "If I was ever going to do it, it would only be for the money," he reportedly said. He added, "But would we get back together one day? As long as everybody is still alive and still has their hair, it's always a possibility. But only for the money." Neither Gallagher has confirmed or denied the latest report. Though Oasis fans can take heart that stranger things have happened. In 2013, Noel teamed-up with Blur’s frontman Damon Albarn and guitarist Graham Coxon -- once arch enemies with Oasis -- for a performance at a Teenage Cancer Trust concert in London. This year marks the 20-year anniversary of the release of Oasis’ blockbuster second album, (What's the Story) Morning Glory? www.billboard.com/articles/news/6538769/whats-the-story-noel-and-liam-gallagher-could-reunite-oasis

It should be a great album if song Bold is any indication. Liam debuted Bold at a pub a while back and it sounds great. Here is the song Bold, although it is listed with the wrong title here (before Liam gave out the song's name). youtu.be/RL80_dmEjvc

Noel found a demo of an unreleased song from about 15 years ago on an unmarked CD and released it. Considering the circumstances, I wasn't expecting much, but I love it! http://instagram.com/p/B_jxnFhDZ28

Fantastic song. Love it! I heard the soundcheck version a few times but this studio demo version is outstanding.
