^I wonder what she means by "I want to be successful, but I don't really have what it takes to do it comfortably," she says."?
Thanks for posting.

It might not be until 2009.. argh.. why does she take soo long. Rihanna can release records every year.. why can't Shania. She should like.. i dunno.. only put half the songs she writes on the album.. so she can release another one in 2 years time. Ie. Up! did not need 19 songs. It could have only had 13. The other 6 + the 4 of the GH.. plus a couple more could have lasted until last year or a couple years ago. But I guess she focuses on quality.. so that's why the CD's sell as much as they do. Do you want Rihanna sales or Shania sales? I think Shania sales. I think its best to take long breaks cause then people are excited for when you get back.. I dont want people sick of her or her cds to get overlooked cause theyre too close together.. but I get what you mean about doing half the songs and then doing another one a couple years later.. I was going through different threads and posted in the old one b4 I realized it was the older one so I deleted my post and moved it in here but the old thread is still on the first page. sorry!!

From Neil Haislop at GAC: Q: I have read many of your answers over the years and you seem to show Shania Twain no respect like the rest of the industry and even put her down. Even in one question you said, "Carrie Underwood could sing any format like Martina McBride or Faith Hill." I find it laughable that you didn't mention the biggest cross over artist of all-time, Shania, who can sing any format or style at any time. (Jenny, New York City, NY) A: Gosh, Jenny? It's a bit amazing that you could think I am, in any way, anti-Shania Twain. First, thanks for reading me for so long. Second, in 1993, when Shania released her rather ordinary self-titled debut album (not because of her, but her label and producer), I wasn't sure she'd make it. But in January of 1995, after hearing an advance of her breakthrough, The Woman In Me, while a contributing writer for Country Fever magazine, I was the first journalist in the nation to write that she was going to be big if country radio accepted her unique brand of music on that Mutt Lange-produced CD. I've been a cheerleader for her ever since. Shania simply hasn't been in the game for nearly three years now. And until recently, she hasn't even hinted at when she'll become an active artist again. After repeated queries, I'm happy to report that her label says we could have some new music from Shania in 2008. I will welcome her return as much as you will. GAC

Stephen Betts from Country Hound has picked some his favorite all-time Country Christmas songs. The following was included on the Country Hound list: “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Shania Twain (1998)
A modern holiday tune (co-written and first recorded by Mariah Carey) that will no doubt become an enduring classic. Shania performed it on the Today Show in December 1998. Her spirited performance is, naturally, available on YouTube. You'll want to skip Katie Couric's awkward, inane intro.Go HERE... or on YouTube to view Shania's "All I Want For Christmas" performance. That would mean a single in like March. ahh. yes. and she'd probably have a shot at having the best selling CD of the year.. considering she's always released in November and hasn't been able to do that. She'd have to trouble taking on Mariah and Madonna.

Twain still Soundscan #1, working on albumShania Twain still holds the best selling album in the Soundscan era (1991-present). Her 1997 album Come On Over has sold 15,449,000 copies since its release. It is certified at 20x platinum. The album sold 41,000 units in 2007. It is the best selling country album of all time and the best selling female album of all time. Twain ranks at #10 in Soundscan's list of all-time best sellers with 33 million units sold. Twain is currently working on a new studio album. Both her label and management responded to a recent rumor posted by On-Demand, stating that a May release for Twain was "false." A spokesperson from Q-Prime Management said "she is still writing and has not recorded. At this time, we have no time-line for any release." Twain's last studio release was in 2002. She is the only artist in music history to have back-to-back-to-back albums be certified diamond for shipments of 10 million copies. == Country On-Demand

Shania Twain Maintains Biggest Album of the SoundScan Eraby Paul Cashmere - January 3 2008 The top 10 best selling albums of the SoundScan era did not change last year. Shania Twain still has the biggest selling album of the SoundScan era. The SoundScan era accounts for sales from 1991 until now. Last year, Shania Twain's ' Come On Over' sold an additional 41,000 units bringing total sales to 15,449,000. Metallica's 'Metallica' sold 258,000 units in 2007 to bring total sales to 15,077,000 and closing the gap to Shania by 372,000 units. If these percentages keep up, 'Metallica' will overtake 'Come On Over' during 2009. It looks like Shania is safe for '08. While the top 10 albums stayed in the same 10 positions, sales for the albums varied dramatically. The biggest seller of the Top 10 was The Beatles '1'. It sold 276,000 units last year. The slowly mover of the 10 was N Sync's 'No Strings Attached'. It sold just 5,000 units in 2007. Backstreet Boys 'Millennium' and the 'Bodyguard' soundtrack also registered less than 10,000 sales with 8,000 and 9,000 respectively. The Top 10 albums of the SoundScan era as of close of business 2007 are: 1. Come On Over / Shania Twain (15,449,000) 2. Metallica / Metallica (15,077,000) 3. Jagged Little Pill / Alanis Morissette (14,557,000) 4. Millennium / Backstreet Boys (12,099,000) 5. Soundtrack / Bodyguard (11,798,000) 6. Supernatural / Santana (11,643,000) 7. Human Clay / Creed (11,504,000) 8. No Strings Attached / N Sync (11,104,000) 9. Beatles 1 / Beatles (11,097,000) 10. Falling Into You / Celine Dion (10,768,000) Source

Go Shania!! And Im ok with not having an album for a bit. I dont want anything rushed from her. As for the type of album Id like Id like something country but pop. I dont want an all pop record, Id honestly like her to go with something like The Woman In Me or Come On Over but current obviously.

The latest news/rumors about Shania's album from Neil Haislop at GAC..... Q: I miss Shania Twain so much. When — or will — she return? (Jackie, Salem, VA) A: Jackie, that’s been a popular question for the last couple of years. And, even though we still don’t exactly when Shania Twain will offer up new music and surface again as a performer, there seems to be a strong indication that there could be new music from her this year. Don’t hold me to that, because nobody at her label is ready to go on record to say it will happen this year. GAC

Yeah. I hope she sells what she did with Up! first week! ahh. but i doubt it. What was it like 870 000? I think anything over 500 000 would be good. ha. i can't believe in talking about sales when i havn't even heard a song.. or know the date for that matter.

"Up!" debuted in November of 2002 with sales of over 874,000. [Source]That was almost 6 Years ago, though. Considering how horrible sales are now, I'm going to lower my expectations for Shania's new cd and just be grateful for anything above 100,000.

I CANT WAIT FOR NEW MUSIC!
I bet shes having such a hard time deciding what direction to go in.. cause I remember her talking about not knowing if she wanted to do a country album, Pop album, or what.
Anyway, Im sure she will have awesome first week sales cause she has a large fanbase. She needs a good first single though.

It will probably end up having both pop and country versions so she can go international with it.

I would honestly love a Country album like her first one but I dont know if she can do vocals like that again cause honestly the country-esque songs on her Greatest Hits album had really wierd vocals.. she didnt sound like normal Shania.. not sure if you know what I mean.
Id love her to do some rock-ish songs too cause b4 she even came out she did older rock songs and did them really well.. Im not asking her to do a whole album like that cause it wouldnt be believable but Id love one or two songs..
Im really hoping for Country, Pop, and some Pop song with a lil bit of a Pop-rock edge. :)

^^ Yeah I know what you mean. The vocals on "Don't" and "I Ain't No Quitter" aren't comparable to those of songs like "Home Ain't Where it's heart is anymore" and "the woman in me". I wish she'd do something like Come On Over again.. a more pop-rock-country album. Up! was a little too flufly for me.. I remember she did say that the new songs on the GH were what direction she was going with in her album.. but I think she's changed her direction..

Oh God, I dont. She sounds really wierd. I dont like her vocals at all.
If her vocals stay like that this will be the first Shania album I wont buy and Ill be really sad about cause shes one of my all time favorite artists.
