the charts are so amusing to me now....sort of like a haunted house! so i raise the same point as last week-the number one from the week before takes a huge hit. this makes NO sense. we all know actual dj sets are not like this. on the contrary, most djs play virtually identical sets week to week and only gradually do they change. the big circuit djs get away with this bc they are traveling and playing to diff crowds, but resident djs are obvious about it since they have the same local floor. the charts do not reflect this, which obviously means they are not answering truthfully

p.s. rimes should did nosedive!

I get bored with tracks really easily. My sets differ from week to week. If a moment calls for something, I'll play it. If you have seen my personal monthly charts (nothing official about them), there might be a couple songs that are on there for several months. But generally, it'll differ significantly.

Maybe some of the songs go to number one when the point amount is higher and something that used to be ahead of it lost some points.

I've seen conversations about this before. Apparently the labels are promoting the heck out of a track until it gets to #1, then they pull the plug and move on to the next track to promote.

This particular chart has been complained about by DJs for years, saying how innaccurate it truly is. This is more of a promoter chart than anything...if this chart was measured by actual plays in clubs, it would look very different...songs would stick around longer and you wouldn't have a new number one every week.

As much as I love dance music and Billboard, somehow I never fully trust this chart...many songs that go to #1 I have never heard played at any of the bars/clubs I go to, which are the big ones in WeHo or Silverlake...I have yet to hear the Celine or the Natasha being played and both have been #1.

I agree that the club charts are off but it cant be very easy to monitor whats hot in the clubs. Djs dont always write down and report their sets every night.

I think the charts are inaccurate, but at least they are very current and quick moving. Thats what i prefer, im glad that songs dont stick around very long.

p.s. i was reading billboard mag today and janet looks good on the cover, but she looks DAMN in the one pic they have of her inside! they also have a cool diagram of her singles on all the hot 100 and r&b(i guess i always knew, but it never really hit home til i saw it all laid out how much her career has TANKED since 2001.) sad to say, but if she had started her career in 2001 and had this kind of failure, she would have been dropped and forgotten by now; she'd basically be a one hit wonder with "all for you" :/

The U.S. set of mixes for the Shirley includes some of the UK ones plus some new ones by Chris Cox. His mixes are pretty decent.

Cascada covered P!nk's "Just Like A Pill" for their 2nd album Perfect Day. While it is not a great cover, it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

Those folks at Almighty are always covering something. They may have done it with the mindset that official mixes might not be commissioned.

I have always wondered about that too.

This sort of thing used to happen in the 90's/early 2000's all the time. There were over a dozen dance remakes of Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On". The productions were good, but the vocals just didn't measure up. Obviously, given it's Celine Dion they have to match up to. But there were plenty of mixes of Celine's original. I liked all the mixes on the Australian import (Tony Moran, Richie Jones, Soul Solution). There was this semi-decent one of "Torn" done by Natalie Browne (originally by Natalie Imbruglia).

I'm not sure if it's the same in the UK, but under US copyright law, anyone can cover a released song as long as they pay the royalty for the compulsory license.
