Don't know where else to post...
I'd like to hear some feedback on why we shouldn't be afraid to attend a country concert right now.
I'm saying this because of those who are bashing Jason Aldean for not saying anything about guns, and those who are saying stuff along the lines of "most country fans are Republicans, so they should be shot".

At this point I'm only going to indoor shows with security screening to some degree. Yeas an attack can still happen indoors but there is no way anyone's getting a rifle in.

Sorry for the double post. Chesnutt is freaking awesome still. I haven't seen his full show in probably 6 or 7 years. Only big song missing was "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" but I wasn't expecting it knowing he regrets recording it. Biggest surprise was "What A Way To Live".

Seeing Miranda Lambert next March. It's been 7 years since I saw her the first time, so this was looooong overdue. So pumped! Three albums of excellent music that didn't exist yet when I saw her in 2010 for me to enjoy live.

Tonight was an experience. Brent Cobb was fantastic, Margo price is a mix of Tammy, Loretta, Dolly, and a little Patty Loveless. And Chris Stapleton is phenomenal.

Oh, I forgot to mention that Garth and Trisha just sold out 7 shows in Spokane... And I managed to snag tickets for one of them!! I may not have many kind words for Garth's sales tactics and the way his new music sounds, but he is unquestionably one of the biggest touring acts of all time, so this is like a country fan's dream come true!

I don't know how much of a fan you are of Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, but you won't be disappointed.

Just got back from seeing Luke Combs, and damn y'all, this guy is gonna be a superstar. He is blessed with one helluva voice, and he had great stage presence. It was amazing to see the kind of crowd response he got for every song too, even all these album cuts that you wouldn't expect it for. It was almost like everything he played was a hit single, like the kind of show you'd get from a bigger name star who's been around for years. Electric. Loved that he had a member of his band who played banjo and dobro; that was nice to see.
He's riding high right now thanks to that great 1-2 punch of "Hurricane" and "When It Rains It Pours," but I think he's definitely going to only keep getting bigger and bigger.

Would you recommend his album .indulgecountry? I'm on the fence as to whether or not to buy it.

I've been streaming it on Spotify a lot lately in preparation for the concert because I haven't bought it for myself yet, but I'm definitely going to get it before the year is over. It's a great record and he really brings a lot to the table, imo.

Thomas Rhett and Old Dominion a week from Friday. Which is very ironic since Kenny's tour was announced as coming here next May and they are the opening acts.

This week:
Monday Oct 23rd: Chris Stapleton ACL Live Taping (will be on your local PBS later this year or early 2018) Thursday Oct 26th: Chris Stapleton w/ Marty Stuart and Brent Cobb in Austin
on a side note...I randomly ran into Martie Maguire from the Dixie Chicks in Austin the other night (she lives here so I'm not surprised it happened) but she was super nice and sweet. I think she might've been with her parents (possibly celebrating a belated birthday?) because she was going in to have dinner at a local restaurant.

Unfortunately Thomas Rhett is ill so no show tonight. And after the day I had I really could have used a good night.

Omg y'all Maren Morris can SANG. She was soooooo good live. Such a powerful voice from such a little lady. It was her last show of the Hero Tour tonight too. <3 They all dressed up for Halloween too and Ryan Hurd was Darth Vader and his band were Storm Troopers and then she and her band came out as the cast of Grease. It was adorable. Dropping this here too. She killed it. I was so impressed. ETA: She played a new song called "Flavor" that was AMAZING. It was in the same kind of sassy badass vein as "Rich" from Hero. I totally loved it. The bridge has a line that's something like "Shut up and sing? Hell no I won't" and I was like yassssssss! She also covered Beyonce's "Halo" and Kesha's "Hymn" which I loved. And she slayed "Angel from Montgomery." <3

I just got back from seeing Frankie Ballard tonight. I was SO excited to see him, but I was so disappointed by the end. It could have been the venue. Frankie's been doing a few local nightclubs on the West Coast, and my family and I were in the back. I own both of his major label albums and play them pretty consistently. So, I was ready for almost anything. But, to be honest...for an hour and 10 minute set, 75% consisted of covers. The only song that seemed to be in the original key was "Young & Crazy." He drug out "It All Started With A Beer" for some crowd participation, and got very little response. He also played a new song (apparently he started playing it during this current run of shows) and it didn't sound enticing.
I will give Frankie the benefit of the doubt though and say it was the venue's atmosphere. He sounded fantastic vocally, and was incredibly energetic. I've just never left a concert disappointed. I don't mind a cover here and there, but this was like he hadn't been signed at all. I'd really like to see him in a theater setting that is more relaxed and focused on his performance to really judge. Has anyone else seen him? Thoughts?

Seeing the final show of Plead the Fifth tour tomorrow. I saw it in Pittsburgh a month ago. Best moments were
1. Drake White covering Cocker's "Little Help". Wow that was amazing. 2. Kip doing Guitar Man for the encore 3. Kip, all of his band mates, and Drake White singing "Still Haven't Found What Im Looking For" by U2. All of the band members have good voices and they sing the final chorus together. It's wonderful.

I had planned on seeing Kip's show here in Austin a couple weeks back...but I was going to see another artist at a venue right across the street from his show lol. Hope to get the chance to see him on his next trip around this area.
