I really have to commend Amerie for creating another solid album; well done. Even if commercial success is meager, her albums of high caliber almost rectify her commercial inadequacies. She can proudly revel in the fact that she created yet another one of the best R&B albums this year. She hasn't missed a beat since Touch really.

Wow! Where was this deal during Amerie's debut week of her new album? Def Jam waited until Amerie's album dropped from the Billboard 200 to get her an Amazon MP3 deal.
But other artists on the Def Jam label got these Amazon MP3 deals the week their albums were released.

I thought she was still dating her manager, Len Nicholson?

Amerie Doesn’t Sweat Album Sales Despite the lackluster sales of her latest album, Amerie is not breaking a sweat. The R&B star is looking past the initial weeks and toward the bigger picture. The “Heard ’Em All” singer’s fourth studio album In Love & War sold 12,500 copies in its first week, debuting at No. 46 on the Billboard 200. She spoke to Rap-Up.com about the sales figures. “It’s a very weird time. I didn’t worry about it ’cause I felt like it’s not about the first week,” she said. “I knew when the album came out, it wasn’t coming out with a big hit ’cause we just went to radio with the ‘Pretty Brown’ record two weeks before the album came out, so we already knew it was going to be one of those over time things vs. a first week thing, which is cool.” Amerie did not set expectations for herself based on the unpredictable state of the music industry. “There’s no way to tell right now. I was actually curious ’cause I kept saying, ‘This is interesting, going to radio with a song and two weeks later your album is coming out.’ I’ve never really done it like that before.” The album was not immediately available on iTunes on its release day, but Amerie doesn’t fault anyone for the error. “That was weird. I don’t know what happened with that. The people at iTunes are really cool. I just thought that was so odd. They tried to fix it as fast as they could.” Next up, she is planning to shoot a video for “More Than Love” with Fabolous. www.rap-up.com/2009/12/02/amerie-doesnt-sweat-album-sales/

A month after ILAW's release, let's recap the era so far....
Numerous release delays, 1st single/video in June (no promo), 2nd single/video in September (no promo), 3rd single to radio in October (NO PROMO), promo 2 weeks for album, shipping issues, and new single/video for Dec/Jan.
All within 6 months.

So can anyone confirm whether or not Amerie did indeed get engaged over Thanksgiving weekend?

This whole era has been ridiculous. Maybe she needs to go to an indie label and go the route of her debut CD. To me, it seems like she would be better received and less pressured.

LOVE the album...from here on out, the label, management, and artist must take their time with the singles and whatever they plan on doing.
Amerie needs all the support she can get and it's best they focus on ONE single right now and really get her out there. Maybe a video blog or opening for a tour would help?

Amerie has picked the Fabolous featured "More Than Love" as the next single and video to come from her 2009 Def Jam debut "In Love & War".
Taking on a broken relationship, Amerie shot a music video for the single on location in New York City recently. Directed by Taj (Usher), the video features Amerie and Fabolous battling it out with words "how can we make it love, when I don't trust. We need more than love" (watch a short clip of behind the scenes footage from the shoot below).
"More Than Love" follows Amerie's fall 2009 single "Heard Em All" and summer hit "Why R U".

IF SHE WOULD BE ABLE TO AMP UP HER PROMO SHE CAN DO WELL. THE PROBLEM IS THAT FOR AMERIE IS AS MUCH AS I LIKE HER, SHE CAN SOMETIMES BE FORGETABLE. EXAMPLE ALOTTA PEOPLE DID'NT EVEN KNOW HER CD WAS OUT !

Well, Amerie is only doing radio and internet promo...then she goes overseas in February, where the album is releasing elsewhere. Not sure I love the approach. But the management is doing SOMETHING.

So I finally downloaded the album the other say, and I gotta say I really do like it. Sound-wise, it's "Because I Love It" Part II, but that's not a bad thing. "More Than Love," "Dangerous," "Heard 'Em All" and "Swag Back" are the standout tracks in my opinion. I think IL&W is weaker than BILI, but it's nonetheless a solid album.

Forget about the lack of action with the singles and album, this music is SOLID!! My favourite part is the middle of the album. Track 4 "Why R U" to Track 12 "Dear John". My faves are "Red Eye", "More Than Love", and "Pretty Brown".
I listen to it almost daily...Amerie never disappoints!

Amerie is in a rut. Her music and image is great, but not the entire package.
Promo is her biggest issue...needs a better plan from her management team and label in order to get herself in a better position with radio, internet, tv, print media, and touring. She needs a bigger platform.
