w00t! Always cool to see new chart feats accomplished, and it doesn't hurt that it's a good song doing it.

That's quite a feat. Now I'd love to see it #1 on the Hot 100

What is alternative rock? What is active rock? My local rock station is an AOR station. What is that in relation to Alt rock and active rock? They play everything, really

I wonder how many Pulse Charts have "BOBD" at number one?

I wonder how many Pulse Charts have "BOBD" at number one? For the February 13th Pulse 100, 14 reporters had Boulevard Of Broken Dreams at number one.

Awesome! Songs I love hardly ever go anywhere, so I'm so with this one's success.

That's quite a feat. Now I'd love to see it #1 on the Hot 100 Yeah, I was pretty pissed about that too...I was really hoping that BOBD would be the first rock song since Nickelback over three years ago to top the Hot 100. Guess not. :(

What is alternative rock? What is active rock? My local rock station is an AOR station. What is that in relation to Alt rock and active rock? They play everything, really AOR is Album Oriented Rock. They are like a AAA/rock style station but they will play non-singles as well as singles on the station. So, you get more of a taste for the album.

This is really an awesome feat. "BOBD" was also #1 on my personal chart (I didn't submit it to The Pulse 100.)
Thanks to "Candy Shop" (F), "BOBD" will be denied The Hot 100 #1. Ugh. (Unless we start an online movement to each download 100 copies of it from iTunes this week to boost its sales...)

I wish this song was overplayed in my market :'(. There are six RL/rhythmic/urban sounding stations in the DFW market, not one even close to pure pop. The EDGE is a s**tty alternative too.

It looks like Green Day may bid farewell to two #1's next week (Active Rock to Three Days Grace, Triple A to Jack Johnson) but nevertheless I'm glad they should do this for a week.
Yay for Green Day!
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

(Unless we start an online movement to each download 100 copies of it from iTunes this week to boost its sales...) I too just find it ridiculous that "Candy Shop" STILL beats "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" even when it hasn't topped a single radio format yet. I mean, look at it this way: * "Candy Shop" currently has less than a fourth of the total airplay "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" has gotten in the past week on CHR/Pop. * Though "Candy Shop" is mighty on CHR/Rhythmic right now, tally up the total spins across the formats and you see who has the upper hand: "Candy Shop" CHR/Rhythmic: 5661 Urban: 2645 CHR/Pop: 1953 (OK, so he might possibly have a few spins on Hot AC too, but you get my point!) "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" CHR/Pop: 8538 Hot AC: 3576 Alternative: 2530 Active Rock: 1950 Rock: 912 Triple A: 527 (And it just might have a few CHR/Rhythmic spins too! ;) ) Sum it all up for both singles and it comes out like this: "Boulevard of Broken Dreams": 18533"Candy Shop": 10259So, even if "Candy Shop" has the advantage in digital sales, I still see an unfair contest here. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Candy Shop is only about 10-15 million audience impressions behind Green Day so digital sales aren't making that huge of a difference.

I'm thinking Green Day are going to set an all-format record for weeks at #1.
As of 2/25/05: Alternative - 11 weeks CHR/Pop - 1 week Hot AC - 1 week Rock - 8 weeks Active Rock - 8 weeks Triple A - 8 weeks Total - 37 weeks
(Thanks to Ethan/Mega248)

Does anyone know how many weeks Green Day has been #1 at each of the formats? I'm thinking they're going to set an all-format record for weeks at #1. As of 2/25/05: Alternative - 11 weeks CHR/Pop - 1 week Hot AC - 1 week Rock - ? Active Rock - ? Triple A - ? Oh, without a doubt. I imagine the previous record holder for total weeks at #1 across all formats was Santana/Rob Thomas's "Smooth". It had 24-25 weeks at Hot AC and a smooth run at CHR/Pop between a month and two months as well. Green Day will definitely be #1 at Rock for quite a long time. I mean, look at that chart. They're over 300 spins above the #2 single, "Burning Bright" by Shinedown. They'll probably remain at #1 there until June. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I've been meaning to ask, by the way, if "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" finished #1 on Triple A for the final update.
This morning's chart update showed Jack Johnson pulling off a shocking suprise last-minute rally to swipe #1 just in time.
Certainly didn't see that coming, considering Jack Johnson was consistently just sitting around at #2 throughout all of last week with little change.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Actually they are... 50 Cent's single is selling 20k more than Green Day's single. That's a HUGE difference considering anything outside of the top 10 sold less than 20k .

Is this the first song to ever be #1 on six Mediabase/R&R charts at the same time?
Great song! I'm glad this was the one to do it.

I believe it was the first to ever top 6 charts at any time, and this managed to do it simultaneously.

I'm a little unclear about how the whole Hot 100 exactly works. I'm assuming that BOBD is blocked from the top spot because of CS's sales...is that correct? From what is the chart derived from, and what percentage is given to each?
Maybe then I'll understand its phenomenon and not look at it in frustration every time I log onto Billboard.com.
