I heard this. It was played on Armin Van Buuren's A State Of Trance show. The DJ Shah mix is absolutely gorgeous. I prefer the Nadia Ali/iiO tracks that had the Trance sound/style.

the funniest thing to me about her is i was hanging out with her backstage and she was SMOKING! I never understood why a singer would smoke...i just hope it doesn't have long term effects on her voice

I think this is a great track based on the set rip. I do agree that she was at her best during Poetica, though.

I never understood why a singer would smoke...i just hope it doesn't have long term effects on her voice Mariah Carey used to smoke also. Some claim that the smoking "helped" her develop her lower range. I seriously doubt smoking would be beneficial in any way, shape or form. I think this is a great track based on the set rip. I do agree that she was at her best during Poetica, though. She was perfect then. It's hard to pick a favorite from that period.

^^ I think "Rapture" has to take the title for me, followed by the much lesser known "Chastity" IMO. Speaking of "Rapture," Junior broke out his own "Electro Mix" in Chicago this past weekend. I think this is one of the only times he has played it out, though it is not new.

He used to play the John Creamer & Stephane K mix back in the day.

This song is lovely! Nadia Ali is absolutely one of my favorite dance vocalists of all time.... Like for most, "Rapture" takes the cake for me, it is simply flawless! I love it just as much as I did the first time I heard it. I think Nadia has a very unique, penetrating voice, and combined with a fierce beat, it's really hard to go wrong! Favorites of mine by Nadia/Iio include Rapture, In The End (ESPECIALLY the mix by Saeed & Palash), Runaway, Who Is Watching, Is It Love, Something To Lose, and Give It Up.

iiO’s Nadia Ali to release First Full Length Solo Album
Today, following successful collaborations with Armin Van Buuren and John Creamer, Nadia announced June 17, 2008 as the official release date of “Crash And Burn”, the first single taken from her much anticipated solo album, on her label, Smile in Bed, with remixes by artists such as Dean Coleman, DJ Shah and Sultan & Ned Shepard.
New York City, NY (May 30, 2008) - Nadia Ali, singer and songwriter, formerly from the group iiO, stands at the forefront of the dance and electronic music realm. Since her debut she has captured the world’s attention with her astonishingly pure, rich emotional voice, innovative ideas and inspiring lyrics, topping Billboard Charts with hits like “Rapture” and “Is It Love?”.
Already being supported worldwide by the DJ elite including David Guetta, Sharam and Roger Sanchez, the package encompasses remix styles from electro to house to progressive highlighting the powerful voice and lyrics that have made Nadia one of the top selling artists in the dance scene today.
In support of this release, a special launch party presented by Flawless Media will be held on Friday, June 20th at Mansion New York with a full performance from Nadia and a DJ set by Sultan.
“Crash And Burn” will be available in digital format through iTunes, Beatport and other major digital retailers on June 17, 2008.
The complete tracklisting for the single “Crash And Burn” is:
- Radio Edit - Dean Coleman Smash Vocal Remix - DJ Shah Magic Island Remix - Sultan & Ned Shepard Remix - Justin Thomas In the Flesh Remix - Kered & Kiraly Remix - Astro & Glyde Remix - Dilamani & Rassek Remix - Justin Thomas In The Spirit Mix
The Bio
Nadia Ali (born August 3, 1980 in Libya) is a Pakistani-American singer and songwriter who is best known as a former member of the band iiO, and for their breakthrough 2001 hit Rapture which reached #2 on the UK Singles chart and topped dance charts all over the world.
Nadia Ali was born in Libya to Pakistani parents in 1980. The family relocated to Queens, New York City, when she was still a small child, and has remained there until this day.
Nadia has stated in interviews that the music that most influenced her growing up includes Stevie Nicks, Sade, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, U2, Madonna, Led Zeppelin, Carole King, Carly Simon and The Beatles.
While 20 years old, Ali was working in the New York offices of Versace, and aspiring to start a music career, when a co-worker introduced her to producer Markus Moser, who was looking for a female singer to collaborate on some of his original dance music production. The two teamed up and started a group that was originally named “Vaiio,” named after the Sony laptop Nadia was working on. They later dropped the “va” to avoid causing problems in the future with Sony.
Working with Moser, she wrote the lyrics and the vocals for the songs. After the success of the 2001 hit “Rapture”, the single was remixed many times by the likes of Armin Van Buuren, John Creamer & Stephane K and Deep Dish with bootleg and white label remixes emerging as well.
The duo toured all over the world for years and released more singles, including “At the End,” “Runaway” and “Smooth“.
Nadia left the group in 2005 to pursue a solo career, however the long-awaited full-length debut album Poetica was not released to wide distribution until 2006, and Moser continues to release iiO material featuring her on vocals. Most notably, these releases include the 2006 single “Is It Love?” which went to #1 in America on the Billboard Dance Chart, and the 2007 Album Reconstruction Time: The Best Of iiO Remixed.
Solo career
In 2006, Nadia released her first two singles as a “Solo Artist.” The first, “Who is Watching“, was a collaboration with DJ/Producer Armin Van Buuren and appeared on his album Shivers. The second, “Something To Lose” which is a duet with singer/songwriter Rosko, was produced by Creamer & K and released by Ultra Records.
The duet was championed on the UK’s BBC Radio One by influential DJ and tastemaker Pete Tong, and remixes have appeared on releases by Roger Sanchez, as well as by Sharam Tayebi of Deep Dish for his Global Underground debut “Dubai.”
In 2007, Nadia appeared on the cover of Cleo Magazine, Egypt’s leading “modern lifestyle” magazine, printed in English and named after Cleopatra herself.
A testament to her growing influence in that region of the world, the magazine showcases cosmopolitan women who represent the power and success of the sometimes controversial (by Muslim standards) modern day lifestyle. The unique combination of her American heritage and her Eastern cultural background and influences continues to attract attention from music communities all over the world, as she continues to tour the world as a solo act, performing frequently in North Africa and the Middle East, as well as Eastern Europe, Russia, and Latin America.
She has yet to perform live in Pakistan, however.
Currently, Nadia Ali is finishing her first full-length solo album, featuring the producers Scott Fritz, DJ Sultan and Ned Shepard, among others. The first single from the album, “Crash And Burn”, will be released on June 17, 2008, including remixes by Dean Coleman, DJ Shah, Sultan & Ned Shepard, Astro & Glyde, Justin Thomas, Kered & Kiraly and Dilamani & Rassek.

I'm really hooked on this track now. It's just amazing. I like the new Dean Coleman mix. It's a lot more accessible. It has the feel of some of the material she did with Markus as iiO. This version would be most suitable for radio here.
