Future Reflections -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- www.metacritic.com/music/artists/mgmt/oracularspectacular-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just got it today, so why not open a thread for it? They're a duo from Brooklyn. In 2005 they released the Time to Pretend EP. They were later signed to Columbia to work on songs with producer Dave Fridmann. The resulting Oracular Spectacular album was digitally released in October, with a physical release following in late January in the US, in March for the UK and today for Europe. "Time to Pretend" was picked as the first single, it's currently Top 30 at Alternative and still growing; it also peaked at #49 in the UK. A video for second single "Electric Feel" has been booked. Charts-wise, the album is in its fifth week on the Billboard 200 (peak position #150, sales of 48,903 copies so far). It also debuted and peaked at #12 in the UK and at #41 on the European Album Chart. They reach a new peak on the BB200 at #149 this week. They sold 4,762, with total sales standing at 53,665. They need to find other means of promotion ASAP!

I was talking Newbury Comics (a small-ish chain in New England)...is this worth buying? A friend of mine is obsessed but I couldn't get into the clips...

I looooooove the "Time to Pretend" video. It probably helped that I was stoned when I saw it, but the running through the rainbow loop thing was mind-blowing.

145 MGMT ORACULAR SPECTACULAR 4,500 -2% 100,850
They better bring on "Electric Feel", "Time To Pretend" has gone recurrent at Alt.

^Tell me about it, it's equally as addictive as the original "Electric Feel" was when I first came across it.
