^ Thanks for the Video review Vinman. She is in red, there goes Jeff again. Carrie seemed confident and quite at home in that interview. I wonder if the Country Music Industry and the Country Music Fans knew (or even thought), when voting for her on AI, they were voting for the new "Queen of Country Music?"

So, I read on another board that the Cook fans all think he is the best winner to date and that he is going to outsell Carrie, Kelly and Chris. Some of the people saying this are fans of Carrie. (or were) I don't get this whole idol thing of moving on from one contestant to the next flavor each year.

If he does, good for him. I think the majority of Carrie fans are concentrated on her own career. Although, in his genre, Cook has an uphill battle.

MOD NOTESo, I read on another board that the Cook fans all think he is the best winner to date and that he is going to outsell Carrie, Kelly and Chris. Some of the people saying this are fans of Carrie. (or were) I don't get this whole idol thing of moving on from one contestant to the next flavor each year. If you would like to discuss the fans of one or more Idols, Pulse is NOT the board to do so. This is a music discussion board and what fans may or may not be saying on another board has nothing to do with the music. It is, simply put, off-topic, and any issues you have with posts on another board need to be taken up there, not here. Finally, discussing what fans of other artists may or may not be saying is the quickest path to promoting fanbase wars and that is not something that has been or will be tolerated on this board. Too many times, the Pulse staff has seen non-fans of an artist use this tactic in an effort to make that artist look bad. So for all the aforementioned reasons, your comment about what fans of another Idol allegedly said is a non-starter.

I cant wait to see the boost on CR this week! Hopefully she can sell 30K+! I think 40+ is very possible with the ACMs and that smash AI performance! ;) I think that if CR were trending for that high a number, HDD would have mentioned it in its Friday projections for the top-10. That said, I'll be happy if CR posts a big increase. Catching up on various items...this puts me in the minority of the Carrie fandom, but I thought "Angels Brought Me Here" was an unbearably dreary song and have never understood the widespread sentiment that it had sealed her AI4 victory (although I guess it technically didn't since Nigel Lythgoe said that Carrie was way out ahead all season). I thought Carrie was pretty uneven for the last couple of weeks of AI4...during top-3 week, I quite liked "Crying," but thought her "Man, I Feel Like a Woman" was a mess, and didn't think she had a great night during the top-2 (she had some kind of sinus infection at that point, right?). That said, I also agree with jeff that there seemed to be a push to make the competition seem closer than it was. Basically, I loved Carrie's voice during AI4 and I rooted for her above everyone else because of that, but it really wasn't until I heard "Wasted" a couple of weeks before SH was released that I became a full-fledged fan. And certainly Carrie has grown dramatically as an artist and singer since then. I respect her tremendously for that, and look forward to seeing her mature even more. I enjoyed this read of Carrie's comments at the ACMs: I think Carrie is going to be in a strong competitive position for that 5th nomination slot for CMA EotY. Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban and Brad Paisley are locks and that 5th slot will be between George Strait, Tim McGraw, Carrie, Toby Keith and Reba McEntire, I would think. Tim and Toby seem to have fallen out of awards favor of late (don't care about Toby, but the overlooking of Tim's "If You're Reading This" rather blows my mind). George Strait fares far better than Carrie on a per-show basis, but Carrie will have toured more intensively in the eligibility period and she will have had a stronger TV live performance profile. It would be difficult to find a more effective live entertainer than Reba, though Carrie is much improved in that regard. It will be interesting to see how that race goes. In any case, I'm glad Carrie was out there making comments in support of women like Martina McBride deserving an EotY nomination even last year (in her EW cover story, for instance), and that she is framing her opinion in terms of the women who have deserved to win the award in the past. I love hearing her respect for the veteran women of country as well as her support of several young female artists (Miranda and Kellie in particular, but also Taylor). Carrie gets a lot of credit for bringing new fans to country music, and it would be great if she could also lead a resurgence of females on country radio and in country awards shows.

During the final week of Idol 4, there was alot of talk about how close the competition between Carrie and Bo was. But, in my eyes, I didn't see it that way. Alot of sites had Bo winning, and alot of celebrities when asked said they preferred Bo. As far as alot of Carrie fans highlighting the "Angels brought me here" performance as the true test of her singing ability, I definitely was one that agreed with that premise. As far as I was concerned, if she had been behind in the voting, that performance nailed it for her. But, as we leaned later, she had won the title way back in the final 12. Simon was proven right, we voted for the right contestant, and Carrie has delivered.

^^ Dudley, that was a really good review. I agree with most of your points overall. Regarding the final 3, I believe the personality Carrie displayed while singing “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” is what brought that performance through. Her performance of “Crying” was good for the Country vote and “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All” held the pop voters (helping to overcome Bo’s ‘a cappella’ performance that night). Both of those probably impressed the older voters. With Clive there, it seemed like the judges were going with the flow regarding Carrie. I am with you on how dreary “Angels Brought Me Here” was, in the beginning. The judges and audience looked as if they were going to fall asleep. “Inside Your Heaven” and “Independence Day” were good for the Fan Base; yet, Carrie built up her vocals as the chorus joined her and that long final high note, along with the emotions she clearly showed during that performance, tearing up on the end while pointing at the floor to indicate that Angels Brought Her There was brilliant. For me (and Randy Jackson too, more than the other judges) it was the ending of the song that sealed the deal, if there was ever any doubt in the minds of the voters. Here is are better video and audio versions: youtube.com/watch?v=PEfuLisHDJI&feature=relatedyoutube.com/watch?v=XZZYIM0hazM - with judges comments There were few butts left in the seats as it ended.

^ Thanks Vinman - Amy did a good job - it was interesting to hear Carrie tell about how she makes clothing decisions before award shows.

HDD now Final - we didn't get the kind of boost that was hoped for, but it's nice.
I think we can expect a residual sales boost from the Idol performance this week too.
