Everything about the video is good, except for the cheesy special effects. Yeah, the falling leaves were a bit much... But amazing video! I love it, it got me all teary eyed lol. Just A Dream is definitely my favorite single from Carrie.

Could have done without the fake black things flying around....kinda distracted me from the video. I wanted to see a close up of her bouquet falling to the ground and then transition to the funeral, because that's how I pictured it in my head, but I guess that would take away all the CGI "fun." Carrie looks great as usual though (duh).

I thought it was beautifully done. I can't believe this is the same girl we saw in that audition tape on American Idol.

I like the video except for the dress fade. Although if my husband was going to war, he'd be getting a good bye kiss with the hug.

I think its excellent, the video could have gone on without the effects....but its really perfect and the dialog really helps understand....to me there are many ways to view the video. To some they are already married, and to others she is imagining what the wedding would have been like. One thing, usually the wife and/or mother get the folded up flag....so that would mean she is married. Awesome video nonetheless.

I really like the video. The song playing at the beginning, as someone mentioned on CF, is very fitting!

Well, I'm posting my thoughts about the video here instead of on CF. Amazing acting by Carrie.. poor production by Roman. I feel the same exact way. I thought Carrie's acting was superb. I think she's getting better and better with each video. I have said in the past that I am unsure whether Carrie should try to be in a movie or some TV show because some singers aren't great actors, but after seeing this video, I'm thinking she could be a great actor. And, of course, she looks stunning. If only I be that positive (or even half that positive) about Roman. I'm sorry, but I believe that if most artists had done this video with Roman, it would have been terrible. The idea behind the video wasn't bad, but the graphics was just too much. Everything appeared to be in slow motion (though maybe I should see it on youtube or on TV since CMT.com isn't the best place to see videos). As sbp17 said, the glossy look for this video just doesn't work. It looks too fake. There were way too many special effects (though I actually thought the dress changing from white to black wasn't quite so bad) which distracted from Carrie. And, I felt there were a couple of times that the video could have been focused closer to Carrie on some of the more emotional parts (that might could be considered nit-picking, though). And to top it all off was the last long power note. I believe they should have had Carrie crying her heart out on that note for the entire note (because to me, that is the climax of the song). Instead, they cut out the long note for a talking scene which completely ruined the climax moment. Roman could have waited about 10 seconds or so later for that talking scene. So overall, I'm very disappointed in Roman, but very, very pleased with Carrie. I used to think Roman wasn't so bad. The videos from the "Some Hearts" era were good, I thought (with the exception of "Jesus, Take The Wheel", but since that was Carrie's first video, I'm ok with it). "Before He Cheats" was absolutely incredible beginning to end, and "Don't Forget To Remember Me" and "Wasted" were pretty good. For the "Carnival Ride" era, I think Roman's videos have taken a nosedive overall (I think Roman did the best job on "Last Name" in this era, though I do think it could have been better at the end). I hate to be negative, but I do hope Carrie tries another director. That's just my opinion. I think if Carrie could find a director who is as good doing his/her job as Carrie is doing her job, her videos would be out of this world and could potentially blow away the videos from about every single artist in the business.

What a beautiful, sad video! :( I love it!
Although it makes me think how much better it could've been with a director like Joseph Kahn.

Wow- what a letdown ! >:( I've only seen the video once and already want to give me 2 cent$: 'Just a Dream' is the first single from 'Carnival Ride' that I absolutely LOVE (it is this record's 'Wasted' to me). Perhaps, the video's screenshots that we had the privelege of viewing several weeks back have created such a buildup that anything less than spectular would have been a letdown; however, I must say that I was rather optimistic that this video would deliver more of a uber-powerful mini-movie, akin to Greenday's 'Wake Me Up When September Comes'. I am bothered by the scene of happy/blushing-bride Carrie walking down the (outdoor) aisle during the first chorus, the lyrics of which are the first description of the loss of her solider/husband (even that was most likely her dream I suppose). I absolutely agree with somebody that the scene where Carrie opens the letter to learn of her husband's death should have had more camera time as that very scene had such potential to be quite powerful. I hated how the melodically and vocally dramatic final several "Just a Dream" belts were interrupted by the short dialogue in the car and did not show more of Carrie's grief. In summary, this video failed to deliver the the visual or emotional message that this brillantly powerful song deserves. Again- well done to Carrie and not so well done to Mr. White, IMO..... P.S.: Some posters have asked some of us not to be so "nit-picky", but for this song, that is not possible from me because I find this song to be so powerful, that even to this day, the ending give me goosebumps.

It does seem like Roman could have been a bit more creative with this video, too. Sigh.

I can hear the audio, but the video doesn't show up... It appears this: "The file that you requested could not be found on this server. " I don't know if it's my browser, I guess it is... :(

When the grumbling started about who the director was and the anticipation started for the release of the video, I could see all the grips coming and I just don't get it. It's like everyone was in more of a rush to get on here and diss Roman White than to actually watch the video. People started seeing the video in their own mind and if that is not what the video was then it is not good. Maybe I am just at that stage in life where I enjoy things more for what they are. It is a beautiful song, it is a wonderful, moving video. Maybe God forgot my nit-picking bone. Thank you God.

Did you ever think the reason the direction was like slow motion is because he's trying to portray an actual dream. IMO, Roman directed this video to have alot of interpretations. Actually, the whole video could be "Just a Dream". Carrie's worried about her future husband being in the military, he promises her it'll be ok, she dreams about the wedding, about getting a letter from the Army, and finally about her husband's funeral with flag in hand. The whole production looks like Just a Dream. I liked it. This song and it's video will effect people in different ways. I've seen at least 5 interpretations of it at CF. If people are talking about it, whether they understand it or not, it's still getting buzz. In the end, all that matters is the song itself. The video just adds more emotion to it. I'll give Roman an A for this one. I still think BHC was his best, that one got an A+ from me.

Did you ever think the reason the direction was like slow motion is because he's trying to portray an actual dream? Actually, I figured that was the reason, but to me, it just kind of made the video drag on too much. As I said, the whole idea of the video wasn't bad, but I felt the execution was weak on Roman's part. Too many distractions that took the attention away from Carrie. I don't care for a little special effects (I actually commented that I like when the dress changes from white to black), but to me, Roman went over the top with the effects in this one. You don't have to agree with me, and I'm sure it's not going to damage Carrie's career. I understand that the song is what matters most, and the video is not going to change how I feel about the song. I'm sure the video will do great since Carrie is in it, and as I said, I think Carrie's acting was superb, and she saves the video to me. I do agree with your last line. I believe Roman actually hit a game-winning grand slam with that one. I just wish he could do it more than once.

I enjoyed the video. I thought Carrie looked gorgeous and, as many of you have already mentioned, her acting was actually pretty good. That said, I haven't really liked any of Carrie's videos other than 'So Small' and 'Last Name', so my expectations weren't too high.

I actually like it the more and more I watch it.... I was a little iffy at first, but I think that with more watches I kind of understand where roman was trying to take this video....Carrie’s acting throughout was THE BEST PART, hands down you can tell she completely understood the emotion of this song
I say all in all a pretty well done video, and as far as Carrie herself goes this is my favorite character portrayal that she has done

I'm quite surprised - I actually really like the new JAD video. It works. Good for Roman, this is his best video since BHC in my opinion.
