Based on HDD, it looks like it will be another week before his album sales cross 1 million---maybe 6,000 off.
But DC told fans last night that Bar Ba Sol is getting released to rock at the same time that Come Back to Me is getting release to HAC and CHR. And he announced at his concert tonight that Heroes is going to be used with March Madness. So, March should be pretty interesting.

And he announced at his concert tonight that Heroes is going to be used with March Madness. So, March should be pretty interesting. You can say that again. Not only do we have two singles pending release during March, we also have a new video shooting 17-18 March, Heroes used in Mach Madness, the new MTV show College Life which supposedly uses DC's music, He's guest starring on the VH1 show Free Radio, and most likely he'll be on AI either during March or early April. When you put it all together like that, mid-March to mid-April should give us more than enough to talk about... Can't wait to see where this all leads. And I can't even express how happy I am that David is going to sell Platinum before any of this 2nd promotional wave starts. He's already accomplished so much just on the strength of the album itself and LO as the first single. Good stuff.

RCA sent "Light On" to Active Rock and Mainstream Rock and neither format added it to their playlist.

I guess that we'll find out, as Bar Ba Sol just got its add dates for alternative/rock: 3/23 and 3/24.
Light On got some spins on both rock and alternative, but definitely not enough to chart on any of those formats. I would think that Bar Ba Sol would be his best shot at rock radio, unless they did something to make Kiss on the Neck releasable.

Well if it doesn't, at least they'll be able to say they gave it a shot. Honestly I'm much more concerned about how well he'll do with CBTM on HAC and Top 40 since those are the formats that move units. Charting on Rock will be nice for the cred, but if it doesn't work out - that's the beauty of having a dual release - there will be another single out there getting his name and voice out on the airwaves. I'm willing to bet CBTM will get a music video and much more promo than BBS.

This was featured in Enterainment Weekly's magazine (not online) edition this week. Nice mention of the Carrie/David duet!

Nice. Damn, I'd love to have CMT do a Crossroads episode with Carrie and DC. Their voices sound so good together.

So, 3/17 for Come Back to Me to CHR; 3/23-24 for Bar Ba Sol to rock, and 3/30 for Come Back to Me to HAC. Should be interesting.

2 singles at once should be interesting. I hope they both are successful and at least one goes to the top 10.

I wonder which one gets a video and which one he performs on Idol. My guess would be CBTM for both - maybe on Idol they'll really throw in some major pimpage and he'll get to do both songs. As far as the video goes - I'd rather he get one high quality video and get to act in it, than two hackjobs. I think CBTM is a song made to have a video, and I hope they acknowlege David's acting chops and have him as the male lead and not just singing somewhere while two actors play out the lyrics.

I think that there was a reference in an interview or in a conversation with a fan to them shooting a video in LA for CBTM, for 3/17 and 3/18. If they do a video for Bar Ba Sol, I would think that it would be a performance video.
DC's music is supposed to be featured in a new MTV show, College Life, starting tonight at 10:30. Although my DVR guide function is not acknowledging that the show is starting tonight. I gather that's not unusual for MTV, though.

Come Back To Me Video
Gavin Bowden will be directing the new video for current American Idol, David Cook, the first week of March. Collaborating on an idea between Director and Artist, together they have developed an intriguing and unique approach to the track “Come Back To Me”. Look for it here in the next few weeks.

Raycom Sports is using David Cook's "Heroes" for their basketball tournaments for SEC and ACC. David also did a special performance video for Raycom Sports. www.raycomsports.com/index.php?page

'American Idol': On the scene at the Top 11 results night I'm sorry to start things at the end, dear readers, but man do I miss David Cook. Lemme 'splain: The season 7 American Idol champeen pre-recorded an upcoming results show performance after last night's live show, and the dude was so smoothly professional, so calm and even-keeled, that it reminded me just how, well, smoothly professional, calm and even-keeled he was throughout his march towards the Idol crown last year. No Matt Giraud-esque flop sweat, no Danny Gokey-ish smarm, no Adam Lambert-ian showboating, no Megan Joy-ful dance spasms -- just good, ole fashioned musicianship, confidence and charm. And as an added bonus (and this is the part of the recap where we jump all the way back to the beginning and start things again in chronology), when Cory the Warm Up Comic commanded the audience to "get up on your feet!" before last night's live results show, Cook's mother and younger brother, sitting a few rows away from me, remained firmly in their seats. That alone is more than enough to sustain my snark demon, Smirkelstilskin, for weeks. The on stage commiseration was cut short, however, by the stagehands carting out the results show benches and whisking in David Cook's band equipment. As they set up an eight-piece string section, what looked like eight amps for as many as four guitars, and your standard full drum set... Finally, after a half-hour wait, Ryan came back out to introduce David Cook. Debbie joked that after Cook's performance, "We're going to do a group number, Cookie's favorite part of the shows!" And Cook delivered a solid, polished rendition of his new single "Come Back To Me." When he was finished, some fans screamed "We love you David!" as Cook was speaking with Ryan on-camera, and Cook didn't miss a beat, replying back, almost quizzically, "Not as much as I love you!?" Oh, wait, I almost forgot! Right before Ryan and Cook came out, two willowy blond girls were plucked from the Swaybot pit and brought backstage. Thankfully, we quickly learned after Cook's song that the girls were singled out only as pretty faces worthy of delivering a framed platinum record to Cook on the air. The reigning Idol reminisced about spending a year selling just 1,000 copies of the self-published record he made pre-Idol in 2006, and marveled that he could now move a million copies in just four months. Then, once the taping was over, Cook walked right up to his mom -- who had been moved, with his younger brother, to a seat in the front row -- and presented his framed platinum record to her. I mean, how could you not love this guy? popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2009/03/idol-top-11-res.htmlDavid's Performance of "Come Back To Me" will air on Idol on April 1st!!

It looks like he has some stalker fans -- from his myspace: ATTENTION! Hey everyone, First off, I want to say thank you to everyone who has been coming out to the shows since my last post. The vibe at these shows has been amazing. Secondly, I have to address some behavior that has become disturbing. We pride ourselves on being accessible to you as fans, but in contrast, we do enjoy what little privacy we can muster. To that end, the efforts by some fans to find our hotel rooms, call our hotel rooms, attach things to our bus, etc., is something I have to condemn. This relationship only works when it remains healthy for both parties, and should this behavior continue, the only thing we can do is take more preventative measures to maintain our privacy, which in turn makes us less accessible to you. I hope this doesn't come off as harsh. I merely want to nip this in the bud so we can continue to have a great experience with all of you at the shows we have coming up. Take care and see you at the next show. ~D blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=382394266&blogId=478341865

That's ridiculous that his fans have been going to such lengths to exhibit stalker behavior. Glad Cook's taking the initiative to stomp on this before it grows into a bigger issue.

LOL, iTunes thinks David Cook is two different artists, one is "rock" and one is "pop." The rock album is $9.00 and the pop album is $9.99 even though they're exactly the same. Pop version #11 and rock version #67 on the iTunes album chart.

Cook looked great and performed very well on Idol the other night. I'm not LOVING the new single, but there's something about him that makes me want to try extra hard to warm up to his material. I hope it all goes well and his album eventually ships enough to earn him a double platinum certification.
