I think Taylor IS talented. However, her talent lies more in the songwriting and expressing-herself fields, not in the vocal area (where, honestly, she is SERIOUSLY lackluster). This song requires a lot more (I can't put my finger on it but I'll just say "voice") voice to sound decent, and Taylor just doesn't have it.

This song is vastly overrated. TS doesn't deserve all the airplay she gets, unless she puts out another hit like TOMG, which was a good song. I hope her new album plays to her strengths and keeps it simple like in TOMG. However, I'm shocked as to why Carrie's team doesn't release ALL her singles (NOT remixed) to top 40 seeing how TS is seeing success with it. Personally, I think this is a GREAT tune... FYI, Taylor's been sending remixed songs to top 40 - her success at top 40 has been with the remixed versions and not the Country/album versions... As for Carrie, I think AAG should have definitely been released to pop radio though...

Taylor is an excellent song writer but she is so young I think her voice is improving for live performances. But she does well because sadly the country songs that have pop sounding voices are usually the females who are successful. Look at Carrie and Taylor, then look at Kellie Pickler. Theres no doubt in my mind if Taylor had a strong twang she wouldn't be doing as well.

Personally, Taylor is okay for me. I just can't get past the lack of voice! Her songs are listenable on the radio but they are not something that I will listen to just because.

Saly, this is struggling to find support at CHR... 3 week spins trend on "all stations" panel:
7/17/08: 239 7/10/08: 247 7/03/08: 228
It went for adds on Tuesday... hoping this picks up FAST!

Taylor's CD is one of my favorites to come out in years.. every song on the album is amazing IMO. Except for 'The Outside'. I just can't get into that song, no matter how hard I try.

Gaining some steam now... it's picked up 124 spins the past 2 weeks on the all-stations panel:
7/29: 372 spins 7/22: 328 spins 7/15: 248 spins
It's actually just outside of the top 50 at Mediabase now...

John where do you hear this.
Ok, even though I think Taylor Swift's vocals are horrible, this song has grown on me SO much. No joke, I'm always singing it. I hope this does well.

Up to 407 spins now on the all-stations panel... with 2 songs (Ray J & Colbie Caillat's "Realize") going recurrent this week, this has a shot at cracking the top 50 by Sunday night.

Yay! It's actually on quite a few stations "hot picks" on AllAccess.. surprised its not doing better.. Yeah, there's been a lot of positive feedback from the PD's... I'm surprised it's not doing better too, given how well the first two songs did and just how catchy this one is, it seems like a "no brainer." I still think it's going to catch on though and become a pretty good-sized pop hit (top 25) though.

Taylor, it seems to be losing spins. :( This song is finally growing on me and it loses spins. That's lame.

According to the quick-cut info, this song went from having 410 spins last week, to having 376 spins this week.
So, she sits at -34 spins. She could rebound though.

it's slipping... not sure what's up with this... To me, it's just as strong, if not stronger than the first two songs to cross to CHR. My only guess is that the record company just isn't promoting it to the format and/or is already focusing it's efforts on Taylor's new album.

Yeah, I think Big Machine just gave up on this. They shouldn't have bothered sending it for adds if they weren't going to do anything with it.

Honestly it doesnt make sense though. Last week at least three new stations would add it every day...and it was gaining alot of spins. Why would they give up on it all of a sudden?

What baffles me is that the terrible Our Song remix went Top 20 while this has failed to go Top 50.

I think this was done on purpose. Mark my words, Taylor Swift will send her new aulbum's lead single to both country and pop.
Watch. They are going for a big debut.

I'm on the fence on this one... may skip it and play Should've Said No, instead.

You see this kind of thing happen A LOT at Country radio, so maybe it's just an extension of that mindset... I've seen it over the past few years with many artists... Toby Keith in particular, who the label seems to stop working the moment his current song looks like it's going to hit #1.
