Thanks for the word, SGG! This is a very good choice, with a typically great vocal from Trisha and a couple of pretty good hooks that might work especially well in the summer. I'm hopeful that this song will eventually make the top-20. I think it stands a pretty good chance of it.

I think this is the best choice they could have made. "Nothin' 'Bout Memphis" and "Let The Wind Chase You" are single-worthy, but they needed to go with an uptempo song at this point. Also, you can rarely go wrong with a Matraca Berg song.

Holy crap! My internet has been down since Sat and work has been down all day today too. This is my first time back in this forum and this was the first post that caught my attention!! Yipee, fantastic news. I love this song and I think it is my favorite of what was left on the CD to be a single. Never thought 2 of my favorite songs from this CD would be singles. WOW!! Thanks for the news.

Glad they're not wasting any time on putting the next single out.

I'm so f-ing happy they decided to release this! This is most favorite on the album beside the title cut. Awesome choice and I hope it does well. It's so catchy and reminiscent of older Trisha IMO. Love it.

YES!!!!! This is a PERFECT choice!!!! It was the right choice to release an uptempo song next and this is the best uptempo song on the album. I love the lyrics, the arrangement, and the way she sings it.
I also think it'll easily go top 30 as she's proven she can consistently do that now. But this song SO deserves top 10.

I'm SOOOO happy they chose this as the next single! I love it's buoyancy!
I've not always been fond of Trisha's albums, probably because they are ballad centric. Maybe that's why I love this album so much--she really cuts loose vocally and has some great uptempo songs on it (including this song and Drown Me).

This wasn't one of my favorites from the album. But after going back and listening to it again, its probably her best shot at a hit from the record. If all the momentum isn't already gone that is. Her later records haven't fared well by the time they get this deep into a disc. In any case Ill pull for it, for no other reason then I want this chick to hang around and show all the newbies how its really done.

I totally agree with your whole post, Lumpster. To me, this song is not even in the top half of the album, but I think it's probably the most radio-friendly track that will hopefully help her snatch another top 20 hit. I was hoping she would take a bit of a risk and release "Cowboys Are My Weakness", but oh well...

I prefer the ballads so this isn't really one of my faves from the album. However, I do agree that an up-tempo is probably a good idea for radio at this point.
I always find myself having two "lists" when I listen to an album -- my personal favorites and single-worthy songs. They usually only have a few songs in common. It's always a pleasant surprise when a song solely on the faves list gets released as a single and actually become a hit (See Sugarland's Stay).

I'm delighted with this single from the best CD I've purchased in recent memory.
Yet another great tune from Ms. Berg, who gave us the always enjoyable 'Strawberry Wine'.

Also, you can rarely go wrong with a Matraca Berg song. My feelings exactly. Ideally, I'd like to see 5 singles released (with those two being the others). "Nothin' Bout Memphis" is my favorite song on the album, but Trisha needed to put out an uptempo song for the summer. I really hope that country radio lets this be a hit.

I like Trisha as a vocalist and think her last two single releases should have both done better than they performed, but I just cannot for the life of me get into this one.
I don't see it doing well. Maybe Top 30, but I don't even think that is assured.

This is a FANTASTIC single choice! I really believe that this song has T10 potential. It's reminiscent of her older material and it screams "HIT!" Moreover, after coming off of "This Is Me You're Talking To," (which peaked at #25) I don't think radio will have any reluctance to play her and I think listeners will be welcome to hearing it. Again, fantastic choice and I hope it's a big hit that can help revive Trisha's career at radio! :)

Ugh. This is just an inferior rehash of "Why They Call It Falling" but at a much faster pace.

Her album is AMAZING. One of the best of the last few years. The sad thing is that she has been around a long time and does not garner the hype that the younger females have. This song is just one of tons of superb ones on the album (I also adore The Dreaming Fields, Nothing Bout Memphis, Cowboys are My Weakness, Let The Wind Chase You and the previous two singles). If Trisha had released this exact song in the 90s it would have been a #1 hit so I will no doubt be disappointed when it fails to get there :(

I agree, had this been a single in the 90s, it would've likely hit #1. At least Trisha's getting some airplay with this album - this is the first time she's charted with three songs from one album since 2001. #59 as of last week, hopefully she managed to move up a bit this week.

The format is WAAAAYYYY too fixated on the young new females to the point where standout singles such as this one (from the best CD I've purchased in the past 18 months) from heritage artists such as Trisha, Patty Loveless, Jo Dee Messina and many others are criminally underplayed, or essentially ignored.
If this single (or either of the previous two) had been released in the nineties (a much better decade for country radio and country music than this one), all of them would have streaked to the top of the charts at once, IMHO.
She remains arguably the format's most respected female vocalist of the past two decades, certainly alongside the equally indispensable Ms. Loveless.

I think Trisha has the best country vocal of any female in the world. The only ones who can touch her (vocally) are Carrie and Martina.

Down 3 to #58 in week 5 (the peak to date is #54). I'm really disappointed this isn't doing better. It still has a chance to recover, as it's only lost a very small bit of audience, but still. This is radio friendly and getting good callout.

This sucks. This song is great--what's the problem? I hope it recovers.

This sucks. This song is great--what's the problem? I hope it recovers. What can I say? She's sure proving the title right. And why am I the only one not impressed by this song? I still think it's an inferior rewrite of "Why They Call It Falling", and the production is a major step down from "Heaven, Heartache…" and "This Is Me You're Talking To".

I think Trisha has the best country vocal of any female in the world. The only ones who can touch her (vocally) are Carrie and Martina. I totally agree with you! All three of those ladies have voices like angels. There's just something special about Trisha's voice where even songs of hers I don't like I listen to just because of her great voice. She is SO talented and still deserves to have as much sucess as she did years ago. It's a real shame this song is struggling.
