Are you sad at how the end of this era turned out??? Of an album that's sold 6 million copies?? And it's still selling over 10,000 a week?? I don't think it could've done any better.

I'm sad at Fifteen being a multi format single and basically killing the momentum, at TWAF being a single, Fearless only getting a live music video, Fearless's peak at country... just about everything post YBWM.

Oh IMO, that is without a doubt her worst song ever. I completely agree. I love Taylor but I HATE that song so much. I literally cringe when I hear it. Sorry, Taylor. :( I was okay with it being part of the V-Day soundtrack. But I will never understand why it was released as a single. Or more than that, why on earth she made that song part of her Grammy performance. I also agree about 'Fearless' being a bad single choice. F&A would've been a good choice.

I personally couldn't have asked for more, but that's just me haha. I'm extremely happy with how well the album did.

Yeah, I agree with that. For me, the end of the Fearless era was her winning Album of the Year at the Grammy's. Which IMO was a very big deal. But unfortunately, a lot of people just looked at it as Taylor winning another award. And it kinda got glossed over. Because all people wanted to talk about the next day was her not so good Grammy performance.
But that's the biggest award in all of music. And she's the youngest person to ever win it.

www.taylormix.com/Not really what I was expecting, but it's cool I guess. I wonder if we're gonna get mp3s of all these new versions.

The album itself did very well, but the end of the era DID suck. From her completely panned Grammy performance, to the subsequent singles underperforming and then going home winless at the ACM's and CMT Awards, it was a very odd way to end a hugely successful era.

Mistakes this era:
1. Releasing 'Fifteen' as a single on country and pop radio. The song was basically an underperformance waiting to happen, I know I seen it coming. All of the momentum created by 'YBWM' went to waste because of this bland and boring single choice. 2. 'Today Was A Fairytale'. Arguably one of the worst songs she's ever recorded. Managed to steal attention away from her other singles on the digital market... attention those singles desperately needed. 3. 'Forever & Always' and 'You're Not Sorry' not being released as singles. These two songs both had the crossover potential 'Fifteen' never had. 'F&A' was a fan-favorite and 'YNS' was the best ballad from this album. At least one of these should have been released. 4. 'Fearless' being given a crappy music video.
I don't think releasing 'Fearless' as a single was really a mistake. I think that, had 'Fifteen' not killed off all her momentum, 'Fearless' would've been a lock for Top 5 on the country charts. Singles post-'YBWM' should have been:
4. 'Forever & Always' (crossover) 5. 'Fearless' (country) 6. 'You're Not Sorry' (crossover)

She did just fine. I'm glad there will be a break between her last really successful single and her next lead single. It gives the public a reason to want more Taylor.

Her Grammy wins were overshadowed by her horrendous Grammy performance. Her performance was so bad, that it was the only performance not offered by the Grammy's for sale on iTunes in any form.
Honestly, I think her awful Grammy performance on the same night she won Album of the Year, created a big backlash and she hasn't recovered since. Especially not in Country music where they have basically shut her out of the awards since the Grammy's.

I guess we'll see if people have tired of her when her next release comes about, but I think the whole backlash argument is bullsh!t. She still sells out arenas (and now stadiums) and her almost two year old album continues to sell at least 10k copies a week (even after selling as much as it has and without any single for quite some time). She's doing perfectly fine.

Yeah, I agree. I think the backlash (from the performance) really only lasted for the next few weeks. (Scott Borchetta's statement only made it worse. He should've just ignored it)
I don't think it has anything to do with why she didn't win any ACM's or CMT's. I think losing those awards was a combination of the fact that she's just won SO many awards over the last couple years. Especially at the country music awards shows. And people wanted to see other artists winning. Also, her nominations were for song and videos that feel so old by now.
For the ACM's, she lost a couple of awards to Miranda Lambert (who was very deserving). The only one I really think that she deserved to win (and didn't) was for Entertainer of the Year. BUT a large percentage of that award was fan voted and Carrie has a huge fan base. They won her the same award last year. And Carrie hasn't been winning awards lately like Taylor has. So I think Carrie just had more eager fans.
As far as the CMT Awards go, all of them are fan voted. And I think Taylor fans weren't exactly voting like crazy to make sure she got a couple CMT awards (that she's already won a bunch of). When she's already won much bigger awards.
Same thing happened with Carrie last year, when she was wrapping up the 'Carnival Ride' era. She got shut out of a couple awards shows.

I throught the Fearless Era ended off pretty fine. The album is at #27 on the Billboard 200 Album Charts this week.Pretty awesome for a 2 years old album to do.The only big mistake was releasing TWAF at the same time Fearless was on radio.I throught Fearless was a good single choice. Her performance at the Brooks & Dunn Special was one of her best!

Her performance at the Brooks & Dunn Special was one of her best! Oh, yeah. Meant to say something about that too earlier. I think her two tv performances since the Grammy's have two of her best ever. "Change" at the ACM's and "Ain't Nothin' About You" at the Brooks & Dunn special.

Taylor Swift’s Amazing 13…Actually 14.5 Hour Meet n GreetPosted by TawnyTucker on June 14th, 2010 I’m going on record saying that there is NO ONE more amazing to their fans than Taylor Swift. The 20 year old proved it yesterday when she took over the Bridgestone Arena for a 13 hour meet & greet extravaganza. The FREE event would give fans the opportunity to win wristbands to meet Taylor throughout the day. However, even those who didn’t win an actual meet n’greet would still be able to catch a glimpse of the blonde cutie and would be treated to a free mini-concert. Unlike most artists at CMA Fest who sign at the Fan Fair Hall, Taylor didn’t want her fans to be camping out on the sidewalk to meet her like last year. Instead, she closed down the Bridgestone Arena and help a free and public meet n greet. With no need for fan club politics, Taylor had a crew walk around the event and randomly hand-out Taylor Swift meet n greet wristbands. Since it was Taylor, and her fans tend to be…passionate; I wasn’t sure what to expect. My girls are HUGE Taylor Swift fans, so with their boots on (and yes, my oldest wore her Taylor Swift halloween costume) my husband trucked them down to Nashville for their shot at a wrist band. They came home without meeting Taylor but they definitely still came home happy. Taylor made sure every detail was taken into account. It was IMPRESSIVE to say the least. The upstairs concorse gave fans plenty to do while they waited. Cover Girl was on hand giving free makeovers, Verizon gave fans the chance to make a green-screen Taylor Swift music video, face painters painted bodies, hands, and faces with the #13 or I heart TS, Sony took pictures of Fans with “Taylor” with their new panoramic camera, American Greetings handed out free sample packs of Taylor Swift greeting cards, and so much more. Once we visited all the sponsor booths, we made our way downstairs to the arena floor. WOW!!!! Taylor’s semi trucks that hauled her tour across the country were parked along with Taylor’s tour bus. The castle stage set-up from her Fearless tour was also there, along with other props from the shows. Fans could get up-close and personal by sitting and snapping photos in the red chairs that Taylor throws from the stage. All of the clothes from the Fearless tour and the dresses made famous from her “Teardrops on My Guitar,” “Love Story,” and “Our Song” music videos were also on display. The Tea Party Room, the backstage green-room or hang-out that Taylor takes with her from show to show was also set-up. Fans could walk through and see how the band, Taylor, and crew relax while on the road. For our viewing pleasure, the jumbotrons played home made Taylor Swift youtube videos or clips from Saturday Night Live. If you weren’t lucky enough to score a wristband to meet Taylor, you could go through the photo line to snap upclose shots of her while she did her meet and greet. My girls were lucky enough to get a wave and an “Oh my God…they are so cute” from Taylor…so it pretty much made their lives. If you were lucky enough to score a meet n’greet, you got to go on Taylor’s bus to snap photos or hold her famous sparkly guitar for a picture while you waited in line to meet Taylor in person. Oh, and just because Taylor had a long line of fans to meet, doesn’t mean she rushed the process. In fact, each fan got to talk to Taylor for a few minutes…got several hugs, and lots of ‘Thank Yous.’ She genuinely was interested in what they had to say, and I’m sure each one of them felt like they gained a new friend that day named Taylor Swift. In the midst of the 13 hour day, Taylor did a FREE concert. The Bridgestone was PACKED but extremely orderly. I’m sure every fan left there feeling special and had a good time. When all was said and done, Taylor signed for over 2,000 Fans for nearly 15 hours. That my friends, is how it’s done. www.countrymusictattletale.com/2010/06/14/taylor-swifts-amazing-13-actually-14-5-hour-meet-n-greet

I wonder if Taylor will perform her new single on the show. It should be coming out right before then.
Eta: By the way, Taylor told a fan at the M&G yesterday that the new album would be out in October.

Someone else who was at the M&G said that she talked to Taylor's dad and there's going to be 13 songs on the album (surprise, surprise...haha). And her dad talked about how much better the new album is than her first two. He said there will be 4 songs that'll make you cry and 5 'oh no she didn't' songs (lol).
But Taylor's mom also said that she just wrote a new song over the weekend that they were going to record on Monday. So that one might replace one of the songs they already had. But it sounds like the tracklist is pretty much set. They have a release date and a title. So hopefully we'll get to hear something official pretty soon.

I am not a huge taylor swift fan but i am very interested to see what she has come up with this time and what she will bring to the table. Also it will be interesting to see what her debut sales will be like!

I'm legitimately excited for this project. I want a racier Taylor! Me too! I keep worrying that she'll try to play too much to her younger fans on the new album. But hearing that she has several 'oh no she didn't' songs (love that Taylor's dad used that phrase btw, haha) makes me hopeful. I love it when Taylor's so blunt and honest in her lyrics. I'm really curious to see what direction she went with the album musically too.

I'm so excited for this album. Fearless was a masterpiece, so hopefully the album is on the same level that Fearless was. I'm also excited to see how much she's matured since the last album. I'd love it if "I'd Lie" or "Permanent Marker" made the album, but I kinda have my doubts about that.

I wouldn't mind if "Permanent Marker" made the album so we could get a studio version, but I don't want to waste space on the album with "I'd Lie." I want as many new Taylor songs as possible!
