BREAKING NEWS Michael Jackson Said to Need Lung TransplantMichael Jackson, the self-proclaimed King of Pop, needs a lung transplant because he's suffering from a rare respiratory condition, according to the author of a new Jackson biography. Author Ian Halperin told In Touch magazine and Britain's Sunday Express newspaper that the reclusive performer may even be fighting for his life, the Houston Chronicle newspaper reported on its Web site. Halperin said Jackson has been diagnosed with Alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency, an occasionally fatal genetic condition. "He's had it for years, but it's gotten worse,'' Halperin told In Touch. "He needs a lung transplant but may be too weak to go through with it. He also has emphysema and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding, which his doctors have had a lot of trouble stopping. It's the bleeding that is the most problematic part. It could kill him,'' according to the Chronicle. Jackson "can barely speak" and "the vision in his left eye is 95 percent gone," Halperin said. Jackson's spokesman was unavailable for comment Sunday. But the singer's brother Jermaine didn't deny the reports, telling Fox News, "He's not doing so well right now. This isn't a good time," the Chronicle reported. Dr. Len Horovitz, a pulmonary specialist at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, treated Jackson at Lenox Hill in 1999. "Alpha-1-anti-trypsin deficiency is a relatively rare genetic disorder that becomes apparent in young adulthood and early middle age, especially if smoking is added to the equation," Horovitz said in a hospital news release. "The liver can also be affected, causing cirrhosis. The disease produces an early-onset emphysema, just as one might see in an older smoker. Treatment for mild or moderate cases involves infusions of a specific medication. In advanced stages, a lung transplant may be necessary. "Since this is a genetic disorder, other members of the Jackson family must be tested for this genetic variant," Horovitz added. SOURCE

Good news!
Michael Jackson Prepping for World Tour, Not Lung Transplant
Michael Jackson is not only not suffering from a life-threatening lung ailment, he's so healthy he's planning a world tour!
In response to recent comments made by celebrity conspiracy-theorist Ian Halperin, the pop icon's rep issued a statement Monday saying that "wild allegations concerning Mr. Jackson's health are a total fabrication."
"Concerning this author's allegations, we would hope in the future that legitimate media will not continue to be exploited by such an obvious attempt to promote this unauthorized 'biography,'" Jackson spokesman Dr. Tohme Tohme said of Halperin's in-the-works bio, which claims that the Thriller artist is suffering from a genetic condition called alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency that could require a lung transplant to save him.
"Mr. Jackson is in fine health, and finalizing negotiations with a major entertainment company and television network for both a world tour and a series of specials and appearances," Tohme continued.
Well, that would be news then, wouldn't it?
Jackson said something along those lines in October when he put the kibosh on rumors—started by his own brothers—that the original Jackson 5 would be teaming up for a "Hey, look at us!" tour.
"I am now in the studio developing new and exciting projects that I look forward to sharing with my fans in concert soon," Jacko said at the time.
We're sure the loyal fans who have stuck with him—through good times and bad, trials and errors, wheelchair rides and face masks, flops and Thriller reissues—can hardly wait.

He did say he would not do the Jackson 5 tour because he was planning his own. Hopefully, he comes through. This is good news. He's Michael Jackson- it will be great to have him back doing what he does best.

Christ....only MJ could have me so momentarily shocked, saddened, and then elated a short time after.

Who cares as long as he can tour. His performances are what matter.

Yeah, I agree, he will likely be successful at touring as long as he chooses to.
His old material still sells, which is a good sign towards a successful tour.

On February 10, The Jacksons' albums Triumph and Destiny are being re-released as a box set. They're also being released separately with bonus tracks on January 27.

New material likely wouldn't do much for them, for them, reissues is the best chance for bringing in money

Who cares as long as he can tour. His performances are what matter. His last tour was 10 years ago and we see paparazzi pictures with MJ in a wheelchair an in veils whenever other people are near, so I'd seriously doubt he could do half the show he used to do. His catalog sales are amazing though. The compilation King Of Pop sold like 200,000 in the UK even though they got a MJ compilation or re-release basically every year by now. I wonder if its those 10-12 songs always selling these stuff that people want to own: "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough", "Rock With You", "Billie Jean", "Beat It", "Thriller", "Bad", "The Way You Make Me Feel", "Man In The Mirror", "Dirty Diana", "Smooth Criminal", "Black Or White" & "You Are Not Alone"...

Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' planned for the stage Producer James L. Nederlander says he has acquired the rights for a stage version of Michael Jackson's iconic music-video spoof of horror films. The show will include songs from two of the pop king's best-selling albums, "Thriller" and "Off the Wall."
"The Nederlanders and Michael Jackson represent live theater and musical excellence, so let the music begin," Tohme Tohme, a spokesman for Jackson, said Monday in a statement.
"I love the idea of making 'Thriller' a musical. Girl meets boy, they fall in love, boy has big secret, now what?" said Nederlander, head of the company that owns nine Broadway theaters.
No word yet on who will write the book for the show or what songs will be included in the production, or who will direct and choreograph

Michael is also being sued by Manu Dibango because he is supposedly accepting royalty payments from Rihanna "Don't Stop The Music" when the part that Rihanna sampled is from Dibango's "Soul Makossa" and wasn't written by Michael Jackson.

^^^ We'll see. I though it was fake at first because he had a song with the same title on Invincible, but the producer and writers are different and Amanda Ghost is his label head. I guess we just have to wait and see.

He fought a very public legal battle against Sony back in early 2002 and was released from his contract. That would be a little bizarre if he just re-signed with them.

You're on it! Maybe she's just an album writer, but I would think they would have their stuff updated if her press releases for her being named president we're put out this week.
