It's a 2cd GH album. It debuts in the UK this week. Does he really need another GH album?

This is the tracklisting for the UK edition. Disc 1 Billie Jean Bad Smooth Criminal Thriller Black Or White Beat It Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough The Way You Make Me Feel Rock With You You Are Not Alone Man In The Mirror Remember The Time Scream You Rock My World They Don't Care About Us Earth Song Disc 2 Dirty Diana Say Say Say Off The Wall Human Nature I Just Can't Stop Loving You Heal The World Will You Be There Stranger In Moscow Speechless She's Out Of My Life The Girl Is Mine Butterflies Who Is It Ghost Blood On The Dance Floor Workin' Day And Night History Give In To Me Disc 3 Can't Get Outta The Rain (Single Version) On The Line Someone Put Your Hand Out Is It Scary (Single Radio Edit) Smile (Short Version) Billie Jean (Original 12' Version) Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' (Extended 12" Mix) Bad (Dance Extended Mix Includes 'False Fade') The Way You Make Me Feel (Dance Extended Mix) Another Part Of Me (Extended Dance Mix) Smooth Criminal (Extended Dance Mix) Black Or White (The C&C House/Club Mix) Thriller Megamix (Radio Edit) It's a 2cd GH album. It debuts in the UK this week. Does he really need another GH album? There have been sooo many collections. Let's see. There's the History collection, Number Ones, and all those other ones. The new one is good for those who don't have the albums and stuff. But I just feel that there have been way too many of them. I wish they would release a remix collection that includes most of those remixes that were supposed to be released all those years ago but they never were or if they were, the release was very limited. While the general public may not want or purchase such a thing, there are some people out there who would want it.

Blood On the Dance Floor is a remix album, that didn't do so well. Yeah. I meant an overall collection. There are a bunch of unreleased mixes of "Billie Jean", "Thriller", "You Are Not Alone", etc. that have never been released even on CD or vinyl. Even a digital release through iTunes, Amazon, Masterbeat.com would be fine too.

This is the tracklisting for the UK edition. Off The Wall Butterflies On The Line I'm glad the fans chose those songs. Especially "OTW", which is probably his most underrated single ever. I hope they release a set with outtakes and demos sooner or later. He has so much unreleased material, and for those who already have the original albums it would be interesting.

The Belgium edition looks the best.

It was certified platinum, so was Jennifer Lopez album, Madonna's was also platinum
Actually, I don't know what the biggest selling remix album of all time is.
It should be easy to research though, there haven't been that many altogether.
Blood on the Dance Floor, as compared to what Michael Jackson albums were doing at the time though, was a bit weak.

Some of them are. The really good ones were done in the '90s. A few of them have leaked here and there. Some were on just one vinyl or CD maxi release, or as a bonus on other editions of an album. A digital release can't really be that much of a financial burden for the label since there's no physical product. Those who want them can get them.

New material won't help much. Resting his laurels on his old material is probably the best thing
New material from 50 year old Michael Jackson with his modern-day personality and the fact that his last real hit was a while ago probably won't get people lining up at the store to get it.

While we're on the topic of MJ hits collections, Jackson's The Essential will be reissued as part of Sony Legacy's Essential 3.0 series. Most of the tracks on the disc 3 are pretty common as I recall, but "Can't Get Out of the Rain" will be there for those who've been looking for an easy way to get that in CD form.

On Wiki, it says it's the best selling remix album of all time..But I think "You Can Dance" sold better.. Wiki is not the most reliable source for sales you know

Of course, quoting Wikipedia is like saying well, "my best friend said..." therefore it musr be true.
Either way, if someone wanted to research this, it probably wouldn't be hard, there haven't been that many successful reix albums

Is the US getting an edition of this?
By the way, Blood On The Dance Floor is Platinum with the RIAA for shipments of 1 million, but it has only scanned 280,000. The Platinum cert didn't come until a few years after its release. Record club sales perhaps?
Madonna's You Can Dance was certified Platinum over 3 years before SoundScan started tracking sales yet has scanned over 260,000 in the SS era. You Can Dance is easily eligible for 2x Platinum considering record club sales as well.
Globally, You Can Dance did 6 million, more than Blood On The Dance Floor.
Another contender would be nelly's Da Derrty Versions (sp?) but it stauled at Platinum and did next to nothing Internationally, so that didn't surpass You Can Dance. Jennifer's J To Tha L-O! and Eminem's remix album had similar results.

Wiki is not the most reliable source for sales you know people talk about that even before wikipedia exists.. why wouldn't it sell better since it had singles, a movie promoting it, a tour... and madonna's had just promo only singles from what i know... maybe a tour could the friend above say, then, how much has BOTDF sold, globally?

Any compilation without Human Nature AND P.Y.T. is not worth getting IMO.

No singles were released to promote Madonna's You Can Dance in the US. The only previously-unreleased song on the set, "Spotlight," was only released as a single in a few overseas markets. (The song did manage to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart, though, where it peaked at #32. Radio started playing it even though it wasn't officially sent for adds.) Blood On The Dance Floor didn't sell more despite the bigger push because it was a flop. Plain and simple.

I didn't think "Blood on the Dance Floor" was even released in the US- I thought it was just Europe- that's what I remember, anyway. I got it but it wasn't that great. "Morphine" has got to be the most surreal and weirdest song he has ever done. It actually makes you laugh but then makes you sad at how awful it is.
Michael Jackson has GREAT re-mixes though. I actually thought the dance re-mixes to "Scream" and "Black or White" were better than the actual original releases. The dance mix to "You are not Alone" is awesome, too- "Remember the Time" another one- I would always buy his re-mix singles because they were so good.
This looks just like all his singles he has put out in one package- with notable exceptions of "Jam" and "Out of the Closet"- which are really great songs that should have been put in- I like that "Who is it?" is in there- that's an awesome song that sort of got lost in the shuffle way back when.
Obviously, he needs money because there is no need for another one of these packages. Michael must be in some sort of "fog" where he doesn't get that everyone is receptive to a new album from him and most people would love that. It can't be just that he's not able to write anymore because Michael has never depended on himself alone to write his stuff- he's never had a problem singing other people's songs that have been written for him, which I admire him for because he takes the best songs to put on his albums, whether they are from him or not.
Quincy Jones just seemed to imply, though, that Michael approached him to do another album and he turned him down, telling him they "couldn't go back." Since Michael booted him out after "Bad" and their relationship didn't seem so cordial as people remember, I'm not that surprised. Michael said Quincy didn't want either "Billie Jean" or "Smooth Criminal" on Thriller and Bad and he had to force him to put them on- whether that is really true- who knows- but obviously their relationship was not always so chummy.
This is just isn't needed and I don't see it selling. He's becoming like John Lennon putting out new collections every year except that John Lennon is dead and can't do anything new.

The Thriller album is #4 on iTunes, and the title track is shooting up the singles chart as well.

Blood on the Dance Floor was release worldwide, but limited. The title track and Ghosts came out, but not much else after that.
Michael, quit with the greatest hits! I'm not sure if he'll release a newer album soon, isn't he having health complications?
