I'm sensing a #2 peak. I think this is the song to resurrect this album on Pop radio. Can't believe they waited this long to release a second single though--it seems like 'GBS' peaked ages ago.

Not only that but the video for 'GBS' came out so late by the time it was already peaking on both Hot AC and CHR.

This is like a new and improved version of 'If Everyone Cared'. I like this song a lot better than IEC, so I hope it gets a higher peak.
ETA: This should have been the first single, like it was originally planned to be. I wonder why they decided to switch to 'Gotta Be Somebody'?

This should be a big hit for them. I thought I'd Come For You really sounded too much like Savin' Me, but I think that would have/will be a hit too, so good choice.

Well I heard an interview with Chad and he siad that Mutt Lange (the producer on the album) convinced him that "Gotta Be Somebody" would be a better first single.

ETA: This should have been the first single, like it was originally planned to be. I wonder why they decided to switch to 'Gotta Be Somebody'? Actually, I think they made the right call in making "Gotta Be Somebody" the lead single. That, "I'd Come For You" and "Never Gonna Be Alone" are all love ballads, whereas "If Today Is Your Last Day" is a mid-tempo pop/rock song that delves into a carpe diem theme. Thus, because most of their obvious pop singles were topically about love and styled in the form of ballads, it only made sense to release one of them first and then keep things fluctuating with "If Today Was Your Last Day", followed by another one of the ballads and then "This Afternoon" perhaps. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

^Only thing is GBS isn't really a ballad...this makes sense though cause Rock Formats'll play it also - still way prefer Never Gonna Be Alone over I'd Come For You IMO

I don't think i can see a #1 peak, but it's always possible But this will definately keep the album in the Top 10 for quite a while =]

BILLBOARD REVIEW: April 11, 2009 ET If Today Was Your Last DayThe superstar band treads familiar waters on the second single from "Dark Horse," and the formula seems certain to provide another obvious, hooky smash. The song traverses middle ground between the act's prior single, the pop/rock "Gotta Be Somebody" (a No. 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100), and its 2006 love ballad "Far Away." Lyrically, the band turns philosophical: "What's worth the price is always worth the fight/Every second counts/ 'Cause there's no second try." The song debuts this week on Adult Top 40 at No. 27, the year's highest bow. Expect mainstream top 40, AC and rock formats to follow in short order.—Gary Trust

By far my favorite Nickelback song off "Dark Horse". Loved it from the first time I heard it. Great hook, awesome melody, and while the lyrics are formulaic as one would come to expect with any of their songs, they certainly hit right at the core.
I expect the music video will just be as great and that will help this song perform well. It's going strong in Canada.

Well this song did do very well on Itunes. It spent several weeks in the top 100 without being a single. Also this will pass at least Mike by tomorrow.
