The song is good, but I was hoping for better from these guys. Both vocally and musically. I think this will eventually reach number one, but it might take awhile for a Brad song.

Its catchy. I like it but I don't listen to much country radio these days...

...Picked up 'Play' on Tuesday. Vocals or no vocals, this is a darn good cd. I've had the songs stuck in my head all week. If you like instrumentals, I recommend you pick it up.

Thanks, kevin59! And here's the link to the CMT video, which is higher quality than the YouTube cap. I've been grinning like a fool all mumbletymumble times I've watched this. The most winning video I've seen in a very long time.

Where does he go from here? After 'Start A Band' is through, what single will be next? Certainly not one from Play...?

Im sure they will try to push at least one more duet out before they move to the next disc. I dont care much for the Wariner song , but I see it as his best possible hit left from the album. But I'd love to see him have the gonads to release the Buck Owens or B.B. King tune ....

I have not heard the album at all beyond the Urban duet, but it would be great have Steve back on the radio.

As for the Wariner duet, I really don't feel that it fits in very well with today's radio. Could just be me though. Seems like more of an album-only song. Perhaps with Christmas approaching, things will be different. Who knows?

I saw the video for this on CMT the other day, and I absolutely love it.
I can't find anything with half-decent quality on youtube though. >:(

I've thought about what I would do, and here is what I would do Reach back to 5th Gear and release "It Did." A lot of people have gotten on Brad's case for his "cutsie" views on relationships (The World, She's Everything, Little Moments). Well, this song is pretty classic love song, (Meeting the girl, Falling in Love, Wedding, Babies, Life is always getting better). I also like the guitar work and the piano. I also think Time Well Wasted, the song, is single quality. I know he already reached back to an old album and used Waitin' on a Woman as a single, but when you release a non-vocal album I guess you have to get creative. Then Brad could release a Greatest Hits album, and throw a new single or two onto that, bridging the gap to his next album.

Brad has to have a GH before he does another studio album.
01. He Didn't Have To Be 02. We Danced 03. Me Neither (?) 04. Who Needs Pictures (?) 05. I'm Gonna Miss Her (The Fishing Song) 06. Wrapped Around 07. Two People Fell In Love 08. I Wish You'd Stay (?) 09. Celebrity 10. Whiskey Lullaby 11. Little Moments 12. Mud On The Tires 13. Alcohol 14. When I Get Where I'm Going 15. She's Everything 16. The World 17. Online 18. Ticks 19. Waitin' On A Woman 20. Letter To Me 21. I'm Still A Guy 22. Start A Band 23. "New Song" 24. "New Song" 25. "New Song"
that is a big GH. no more room for 4 more #1 hits off a new album

I wish he would have released "The Best Thing That I Had Goin'" as a single. I really liked that song...

03. Me Neither (Definitely) 04. Who Needs Pictures (Yes) 08. I Wish You'd Stay (He could deal without this one, but it's not bad)

I'm starting to think this song may stall before #1 and end Paisely's VERY impressive streak. Sugarland and Rascal Flatts may both get a week or so, and then after that Brad is next but Alan is moving nicely as are Dierks and Keith Urban's new single.
Should be interesting to watch.

Brad has got a pretty powerful label. I think that once he gets to #3 they pretty much push it to the top regardless. Also Arista Nashville represents Alan Jackson so I doubt they'd leapfrog Brad with another artist. Plus Keith Urban is on the "Start a Band" track, so there isn't really any incentive for his "Sweet Thing"(Which will be a #1) to deny "Start a Band" the top spot

He's been closing the gap strongly but maybe the label has a plan for that. As for Urban, his new song is 8 or 9 weeks away from the top and I don't think it represents much of a threat to the duet. By the way, some people who tally the various chart accomplishments don't count duets against an artist -- Joel Whitburn doesn't in his books. So for those people, Brad's streak can be added to, but can't break, because of this duet. It's a freeroll, for any poker players out there. Not everybody goes along with that, of course. (The policy does make sense to me. It's easy to imagine that Urban's release of Sweet Thing will cost Start a Band enough spins to keep it out of #1, and that's out of Paisley's hands. I'm not saying that's correct, just that it's one possible explanation for SAB falling short.)

This is looking like a lock for #1 now. It's shouldn't be too much behind "Already Gone" on this week's chart and the next closest #1 candidates are Alan/Billy, who will both probably be at least 2.5-3 million behind "Start A Band" this week. Also, it looks like we'll be getting a new album from Brad this summer according to GAC. It doesn't say what kind of album it will be, which makes me believe it will be a new studio album rather than a greatest hits album.

I agree, it's looking like a full-length studio album based on this 19 December interview Brad did with Broadway of B93 (the link is to a streaming mp3 file). He said that he had already laid down six tracks (which is more new material than one would expect on a greatest hits set) and said that his favorite so far is a track called "She's Her Own Woman," co-written with a couple of his bandmates. During the interview, he was on his way to a writing session with Bill Anderson and Jon Randall (who co-wrote "Whiskey Lullaby").

A not-well-rounded-off number would be 800k behind Sugarland and a minimum 2.2 mill ahead of AJ/Billy, even if those two were barely behind #5 Montgomery Gentry. They were probably farther back but all I know is the top 5. Couldn't be better positioned for next week -- SAB fooled me into doubting it a few times, but it's looking strong now. Sugarland could keep growing, but that seems very unlikely and I think we'll see a big push for SAB.

Zazie is right on the mark. "Start A Band" finished 800k behind Sugarland (good for #3 on the chart) and at least 2.2 over the #6 song. I can only see to #5, "Roll With Me," which finished 2.2 million behind "Band."

I'm really pumped to hear Brad has a new album coming out this summer. My guess is that "She's Her Own Woman" will be the next single, maybe released the second week of February. The other songs that have been based on Kim, The World, and She's Everything, were very popular among the fans. Also, if his next single takes 15 to 16 weeks to get to the top of the chart, it will be near the top at about the time his big summer tour starts up, and I'm wondering if he will team up with Keith.

I believe that this is Brad's 11th #1 single @ BB, vs. 9 at R&R/Country Aircheck/Mediabase.
Does anyone know how many charttoppers Keith Urban has now?

Thanks for those updated stats; I was too focused on Brad's current streak at Billboard.
