This whole album needs to be a single.
It's THAT good!

Rob posted this on his website today:
hey guys. just wanted to say thanx for all the kindness you're sending tyler's way. he/we appreciate it. i go back to work next week. i'm off to canada to spread the cradlesong word. wanted to say that the video for meltdown was just a web viral we did and not REALLY the video, because it's not the next single. that said, i really want to hear from you guys what you think the next single should be. we were going to put out SOMEDAY, but i want your feed back, so it's either: SOMEDAY, REAL WORLD 09, GIVE ME THE MELTDOWN or MOCKINGBIRD. atlantic peeps and myself will be listening, so give me your feedback. also, for those who were wondering, my bass player, AL CARTY, WILL be coming back to join me, but i can't thank KONRAD ADDERLEY enough for filling in. he fit in great and is a stellar player! so, that's it. i'm off to australia for press next week, and doing REAL TIME on friday, on my way through, so watch me stick my foot in my mouth once again! cya. I think "Real World 09" and "Mockingbird" have the greatest potential to be hits.
Hopefully Atlantic picks one of those two. But first, I hope "Her Diamonds" gets a little higher on the charts.

Exactly, let HD cool down a little. The next single should go for adds in early August. I would pick "Real World 09", "Meltdown" or "Gasoline" as the 2nd single and "Snowblind" as the late fall/winter single. There are so many awesome songs on this album. It's really hard to choose.

When should the next single get released? I'm thinking Her Diamonds has a bit of a run left in it and then release Meltdown in September. If Rob's going to do an official video he'll need time to get that together. Not sure why Hot AC artists do videos anymore since no network actually plays them much.

Doesn't look like I've posted in this Rob thread in awhile. Thank goodness there's a few of us Rob fans around here. Looks like Her Diamonds is losing spins at Pop now. I guess at this stage a 28 peak on pop is probably pretty good for Rob. Thank goodness for those Cumulus pop stations. I voted for Meltdown as the next single. Mockingbird is my favorite song on the album. There's just something very simple and very beautiful about this song. I think it will be a #1 on AC. However, AC radio play won't help album sales that much so that's why I went with Meltdown. I think Rob needs a more uptempo song now and a video with him in it. I really like the Her Diamonds video and the concept but people like to be able to visualize a performer or video when hearing the song on the radio. Rob's still a good looking guy and is aging well. He needs to get his FACE on VH1. He's really barely been in his last three official videos - Ever The Same, Little Wonders, and Her Diamonds. Just read two interesting Rob twitts. His Rolling Stone interview is in the next issue (disappointed he isn't on the cover but that was just wishful thinking). Rob said he liked the way the article turned out so that's a big positive. Rob will also record a song with INXS while he is in Australia next week. :o Cradlesong falls 7-17 this week with sales around 23,000. That's a 41% drop which is pretty much on par with how Brad Paisley is doing. Kind of a similiar artist popularity wise to compare Rob to. Total 3 weeks sales around 185,000. Getting a Gold record will be tough but hopefully he'll stabilize with record sales around 5,000 a week with an upturn at the holidays - maybe a few late night TV performances in Nov-Dec.

This is as of the week ending October 4th:
124 THOMAS*ROB CRADLESONG 4,560 -5 4,817 280,864
I think Her Diamonds has about 600k in sales. Don't know the exact number as I haven't seen its sales update for a couple of weeks.
The album has been certified platinum in Australia (sold more than 70k).

Album sales: 141 THOMAS*ROB CRADLESONG 4,467 11 4,025 306,697This week on the Hot100: 93 89 ROB THOMAS SOMEDAY On Hot AC: 7 6 ROB THOMAS Someday 3005 2861 144 16.392 Thanks, I was just wondering what the sales figures were for the album. Just saw Rob in NYC last weekend. Warm ups were Carolina Liar and OneRepublic. Great show. Robert Randolph joined Rob for a couple of songs. That was cool. The night before John McEnro joined Rob and played electric guitar on Purple Haze. He was good! Saw it on youtube. Rob really is quite good in concert. Sometimes I can't tell the difference from the radio to the live version. Can't say that for a lot of vocalists. Loved to hear the new songs live: Mockingbird, Meltdown, Still Ain't Over You, Getting Late. It's really a diverse and good album so the concert was a fun ride.

I've been kind of on the fence about this album, but the $2.99 deal on Amazon propelled me to buy it.

After months of listening to Mr. Thomas' best solo effort so far, "Natural" may be my new favorite on the album... Another possible contender: Still Ain't Over You!

My friend told me the other day that she prefers Rob's first solo album. Says she just can't get into this one. I prefer this one because even the "filler" songs I like a lot. Guess I'm liking the 80's vibe cuz that was so influential on my musical tastes. But I like his first one too. I really feel bad that this current one didn't get any Grammy noms cuz I really think it deserved some. Maybe Meltdown will come thru for him next year.
Anyone know how many albums this has sold to date?

^ I was really surprised this didn't get any Grammy noms. But looking at the winners, it's more of a popularity contest, unfortunately.
I don't know the exact sales numbers, but I think it's around 390-400K.

^ I was really surprised this didn't get any Grammy noms. But looking at the winners, it's more of a popularity contest, unfortunately. I don't know the exact sales numbers, but I think it's around 390-400K. I'm not surprised by the lack of any grammy nods. Rob and MB20 haven't won any grammys. I know Rob has 3 for Smooth but without Santana's involvement in the song I doubt Rob would have won anything for that song. The whole Supernatural project was a huge success at that time. I think Rob played a big part in the success of the whole project (got it started off with a bang) but Rob alone or with MB20 will find it very difficult to ever when a grammy. They aren't a critical darling at all. It's a shame but that's the way it seems to be for these guys. It looks like the Cradlesong era is about over. Rob is done touring (maybe a few one off performances this summer). I don't think a 3rd single will be released in the US. Album sales will probably reach about 400,000 in the first year (album was released at the end of June 2009). I personally thought the album would sell more but I guess great airplay on HotAC (just so-so on pop) only gets you so far. I wonder when the MB20 album will be released and what it will sound like. I'm at least encouraged that the video for HFWC is still getting an occassional play on VH1. That indicates to me that they might support the next MB20 album. VH1 isn't what it used to be but it's one of the only places for MB20/Rob to get some exposure. They need it.

I don't think the album is over yet:
- Someday is still getting positive updates on CHR pop. - I'm sure there will be a third single at least on Hot AC. - The albums total sales will most likely end between 400-450k.

Someday the EP is doing really well so far. It's #5 on itunes general and #2 on pop. Rob's other albums are getting a nice push. Cradlesong is #56 on itunes general and #15/#58 on pop. Even Exile on Mainstream is #93 on pop.

Any updates on the sales total for this album? As well as any sales for the singles?
