Yes. This is a remake of the Belinda Carlisle hit from the 80's. Uptempo and downtempo versions are posted on their MySpaceI loved the original song. As a cover, this is fine. I prefer the downtempo version.

I hate to sound like a wet blanket, but WHY?!?!? Out of the hundreds of chart-topping female-artist 80's songs that've NEVER been covered, why keep on beating this one to death? Production on the uptempo version is brilliant of course, but c'mon....Soda Club did this a couple years ago, and other dance artists literally too numerous to count. Plus Belinda's acapella is readily available, as it was on the 12" single, so unofficial remixes abound. How about Tiffany "All This Time", Taylor Dayne "Prove Your Love", Debbie Gibson "Lost In Your Eyes", Martika "Toy Soldiers", or shoot even Belinda Carlisle "Circle In The Sand" -- any one of these would've made better choices for a cover. DHT, you really should've put more thought into this one.

i personally think DHT should work on original tracks... but that's just me
it seems every two years they come around with another track, which has (surprise surprise) a ballad version, and a dance version....
lame.

You know I was thinking about this again yesterday, and maybe I was too hasty. It all depends on who their target audience is for this record. If they're marketing this towards the dance music community, it'll fail miserably. However, if they're trying to break this in the pop market, then yeah this could be an excellent choice. If Robbins is trying to recreate the huge success of Listen To Your Heart, and get this played on the Top 40/pop/mainstream "hot 100" type stations, it could work. I mean like, your mom driving down the road to a soccer game listening to the radio - if she hears this record come on, of course she's not going to know that there've been a half-dozen other dance remakes done over the last 20 years for "Heaven Is A Place On Earth". All she'll know is that it was a great 80's song and hey look, somebody's doing a bouncy cover version - yay. So maybe if Robbins is targeting this towards the general population, and NOT the niche dance market, it could take off. Who knows, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. It would be really REALLY cool if they could equate the success with Listen To Your Heart, which did so much for mainstream acceptance of dance music here in America.

Upon first listen - wowww - i am NOT a debbie downer - but whoa... NOT what I was expecting - I was thinking something EPIC.
I have Ruudaman's version - and it's AMAZING!
Again, my two cents.

For the record, this isn't a Robbins release. It will be put out in Europe.

Soon enough, Robbins will release this record domestically. As for the remake itself, here we go again...More cheese. Robbins does have some good trance out there, but '80s remakes like this are to be avoided at all cost.

It's possible that this single could be just for the European market. For some of the Cascada singles, different ones were released in Europe than were here, but that might just be because of the label over there.

When I saw the thread I got so excited, but after I listened I wasn't blown away by either versions. :( I wanted the downtempo to be something amazing, but hardly was. :'( Maybe it's a grower though.
