Everything in that Billboard review is spot on.

I think this is my favorite by them since atleast "Slide" now. Here are some comments from Johnny.

This song should be a Top 20 pop hit. If not, pop radio has the problem not the Goo Goo Dolls.

I agree, this is a great song for radio. So there isn't a big hook, big deal, it's not like that is what people are looking for.

I heard this today on a Triple A station. It's sounds just fine, but (and bear in mind I only heard about the second half) I can't possibly imagine how it could be even a moderate hit on pop. I mean, you really can't say pop radio is screwing them over if listeners don't really know what's going on. Besides, the least Johnny could do was put some "umph" in his voice (although, maybe it's possible he used a different kind of umph).

Fox is now using this in commercials for The OC and Reunion.

First Katrina commercials and now prime time television shows. This is becoming way too commercialized, it isn't good for the song imo. I'd rather see it get more spins on the radio, not on the television set.

This song HAS to go for Adds. It's already in the Top 60 on Pop and by going for adds it could really push it Top 40. This song is too good for it to flop at Pop.

This hasn't gone for adds yet? For some reason I thought it did, but if it hasn't, Top 60 without an official add date is a really good sign!

This song is really good, it has that inspirational holiday feel to it. This is definitely a Hot AC staple.

... and another Top 40 hit that was supposed to be, bites the dust...
This format is in HUGE turmoil these days!

lol, why are you complaining? This can't take off on its own if it hasn't gone for adds.

If it hasn't gone for adds then what is going on? Who establishes these add dates because they sure are doing a horrible job these days.

Uhh, record companies usually send songs for adds. But, i guess the record companies don't want this to go for adds, because they probably think it'll flop.

The record company probably isn't going for adds b/c CHR/Pop stations aren't playing much CHR/Pop stuff these days... CHR/Pop certainly has seen "better days".

I miss the Goo Goo Dolls. They deserve another hit. Yup... I agree the Goos need another Pop hit... it sure seems to be that Hot AC is the true top 40 these days...

Wow, it's been a big day! Finally all of these songs are going for adds. This is still in the 50's with a small bullet, but honestly I don't see this picking up too much with the adds, they've waited too long with this one. I still think it has a shot at top 50 though. Hopefully an add date will be posted sooner for their next single, which I've heard may actually be the first single off the album. I guess "Better Days" may be like a "Breakaway."

+101! May not seem like much compared to most artists, but that is pretty good for them on Pop. It looks like it will go top 50 this week and it still hasn't gone for adds, which means this bullet may continue to grow over the next few weeks!

With the adds date and its pretty good bullet right now, this is looking like it could become a hit. It better. If not, Pop should just change its name.

I wouldn't be that surprised to see this make the top40 , in fact I think this could have gone top40 if only they had released it earlier.

This song is really starting to pick up, I'm going to say that this song finds it way into the Top 25, perhaps even a Top 100 for 2006 entry, because songs like this seemed to get picked up by different stations for a long period of time, unless of course they have a great follow-up\lead single from their new album, which is definitely possible with the writing ability of Johnny Rzeznik. You never know, they had huge success in the 90's and perhaps they can be the comeback artist of 2006, which would be great. It's already about 10 years ago when Name was their debut single to the chart and wow, that song has really stuck around.

+181! I think will do decently, probably peaking somewhere in the 20's, I think it had a chance at top 20 if it wouldn't went for adds several months ago. This may be the song that will replace "You and Me" on a lot of stations playlist, but I don't see this going top 10 (though I'd love to be wrong).

It seems to be looking better every day... Yay!
Too bad WIMP FM here in L.A. won't give this song, James Blunt or Rob Thomas the light of day... heck, they haven't even added Natasha Bedingfield yet! :(

I really want this song to go top 10. I really think it could if they get it promoted enough! A lot of people (that I've seen) enjoy this a lot. Plus it's doing good on other formats, as well.

^^ I like the message in the song too... very good lyrically... I'd love to see this go T10 too... don't see it happening though until programmers get more open about playing this kind of stuff along with the Rob Thomas, Sheryl Crow and James Blunt kind of stuff again...
