This is good. Still not my favorite Shakira song though and I am betting it will be near the end of my ranking of the cd. It may grow on me more.

I like it a lot, the full version sounds much better than the clips.

OMG This song is so good that Whenever wherever just pales in comparison , it's like it is two different artists, and I loved WW. LOL
Shakira has so many different musical angles that its hard to ever get bored with her music... I hope this song takes her to a new level of recognition.

AOL finally put it on the First Listen section (rather than having to search for it). This is what they have to say: WORLD PREMIERE: Shakira Colombian beauty Shakira's got a fixation on making unique, Latin-flavored pop. Her caustic canción 'Don't Bother' is no exception. The stinging single is from her upcoming CD 'Fijación Oral 2,' in stores on November 29. For the next 24 hours, you can only hear her heartbreak on aolmusic.com. music.aol.com/franchise/firstlisten.adpNote the polling both on the right side of the AOL First Listen section and vote if you loved or if you liked the song :)

The song is amazing. I especially love the opening bit where it builds up.
Not so sure about the high note yet, it just seems a bit random. And also, not so sure about how the chorus blends into the second verse. That's a bit random too.

Is there a mp3 yet? Or the version without the dumb "first listen" dude? Thanks. I'm loving the song. Can't get enough of it

I have to admit the new verses are awesome and the final version sounds so much better than the Promosquad version. I will never judge a song by the rough cut again. I promise. I still hate the school verse, it's horribly lame. But, this verse:
She's almost six feet tall She must think I'm a flea I’m really a cat you see And it's not my last life at all
makes up for it completely. And the school verse isn't the first verse like I feared which makes a world of difference. I love the long note at the end. Her voice sounds amazing all the way through and I love, love the music. However, now I am even more excited to hear the final version of How Do You Do?
Anyone want to place bets on where this ends up in the Hot 100. I'll guess #15 because I am afraid she will only get airplay on Pop radio and that won't be enough to get her into the top 10.

I could see this getting Hot AC airplay if it does decently enough at CHR/Pop.

I still think it's too weird to be an actual hit. I'd say it will peak around 16.

Are people listening to a different song than I am? I don't see how this is Hot AC appealing in the slightest.

Sounds like Hot AC fodder to me. If Kelly Clarkson can have AC hits and Gwen Stefani with the New Wave-ish "Cool", this could at least get some airplay. Basically anything with a rock tinge to it would sound ok on Hot AC.

All I can think about is The Cure when I listen to this.
It sounds so 80's (in a good way).

They had what they called the World Premiere of Don't Bother at KIIS FM Los Angeles on the Ryan Seacrest show this morning. Reports also say people have heard the song on the radio in Colombia, Paris, Palms Springs.

Not bad. I don't know about this one on radio though. It's make it or break it on Pop. Maybe Hot AC though.

"La Tortura" managed to go Top 40 on the Hot 100 without a word of English in it. I doubt being able to understand her makes a difference.

Singing in Spanish and English are two different things though. Spanish listeners knew she was singing in clear, fluent spanish, and to mother tongue English listeners, La Tortura just sounded really good. An all English language single catered to American and World audiences is different; pronounciation in English matters, and mother tongue Spanish listeners probably will not get a Spanish version of the song. It probably will make a difference in the long run, whether its the same artist or not.

She had two big Top 5 pop hits a few years ago that were not in the clearest English. I don't see why it would be a problem now.
