Sony was saying this was the first single, then they pulled the info, then Shakira fan sites are reporting it's the first single... so I'll leave the topic here for now. I love this song. It's easily my favorite English language track by her. It reminds me so much of The Cure. It's crazy to hear a female voice over a song like this that sounds like 80's male new wave. I hope radio makes her a total superstar now. It's amazing that she did so well with a Spanish album here and it would naturally seem that when she does something in English, it would be even bigger. But maybe people prefer sexy latin Shakira. Well I hope it's a huge hit for her anyway. mms://66.186.0.101/allaccess/shakdont.wma

I'm liking this one too. It will do pretty well as a single.

I just downloaded the clip and it's really catchy. I don't know if it's my favorite from her but it's certainly up there.
It really reminds me of "Pies Descalzos."

I created another thread not knowing there was already a thread for this song here, but I just deleted it... You guys beat me to it... :)
I think this song is cool, it will show a new dimension of Shakira.

It really reminds me of "Pies Descalzos." ah, thats my favorite Shakira song ever. Mine too. While I have bitched about this being the first single (the lyrics are lame and she's capable of better lyrics), I love the music of the song and I am excited that she's releasing a rock song. I can't wait to hear the whole song. I wonder why we are getting so much info. on Madonna's album, but still very little on Shakira's.

That's funny Pies Descalzos is my old favorite ( now is UYC) in fact I like that album more than DELL.
I also hate that Madonnas fans knew about the single since July and now have so much info about it, but at the same time Shakira had an album out with two singles ,so I guess at the end we are kind of even LOL

I love the rock side of Shakira! I can wait to hear the full song, but between the two clips leaked, i prefer How Do You Do.

It's definitely interesting though, and this'll probably a grower for me. Madonna probably has more "lambs" or fans or whaetever that post here, compared to Shakira. It might suck, but it's not like it's unfair.

This song reminds me more of Si Te Vas mixed with Smile Like You Mean It. But it's friggin great. I'm sure it'll do well in America and Europe but I'm not sure about how well it will do in the UK.
We never had La Tortura as a kind of introduction to the Fixation albums like the rest of the world did so I wonder what will happen. I wonder if they even bother promoting it...I hope so...

I am sure they will promote OF2 in the UK. Laundry Service sold something like 300,000 in the UK, so I would be surprised if they skipped this market completely with her English follow-up. I have no idea if Don't Bother will do as well as Whenever, Wherever or not though. Originally, Sony UK didn't think WW would do well in the UK at all. They thought it was too foreign sounding.

This track is OK, but I still believe "How Do You Do" would have made a better first single than this.
It's time for Shakira to reveal everything she truly is to her international artist, where though her live album may have persuaded some English listeners that she's not another pop tart whatsoever, many still have that wrong perception of her.
It's time for her to unravel the full depth of her poetic soul to her listeners, and what better way it could have been than "How Do You Do", which also has a strong hook.
"Don't Bother" rocks hard, but the lyrics are not among her strongest.
I think name recognition and hype alone can surely take this into the Top 10, but this is not the kind of track I see having much staying power. It'll probably be a fast gainer, fast faller.
My Prediction: #8
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I can never understand Shakira's lyrics anyway. It really doesn't matter what language she's singing in.. it still sounds the same to me.

I like it but "How do you do" is much better IMO. Anyway the LS singles were better, she's the most successful when she sings latin songs (WW, LT, Objection).

My Prediction: #8I feel the same way. It's very frustrating to be a fan of hers and to see her compared to the pop tarts when you know that she has created such complex songs lyrically in Spanish. How Do You Do would have shown a portion of Shakira's complexity. Don't Bother isn't going to do anything about the pop tart comparisons. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

The only people I see on this board comparing it to pop tarts are the Shakira fans. This sounds nothing like a pop tart song to me. It doesn't even sound like something a female would typically do. It sounds like a female version of "Just Like Heaven".

Musically, I can see the Cure comparisons, which I love. But, Robert Smith wouldn't be caught dead singing lyrics this lame. It only bothers me, because I know Shakira's capable of much better lyrics than this, IMO. I have to wonder if this is one of the Matrix songs, because they are lame enough for these lyrics.
