Sent out to radio today, goes for adds November 10th. As I said in the upcoming singles thread, I'm really glad they chose this as the first single. I've been listening to it on YouTube a lot.

What makes you think it's going to be huge?

Just because I stated an opinion, doesn't mean that you have to agree with it nor that I have to explain it. I don't go around asking people to verify theirs as everyone is entitled to their own. I don't mind people asking to explain someone's opinion, but I wish you didn't have different standards for yourself. Anyway, it looks like this song was taken off Play MPE. I guess they didn't want it to be available to radio yet.

As far as standards, my question had nothing to do with them. I just wish you wouldn't have to harp on every post I make.

What makes you think it's going to be huge? Great lyrics. It fits his voice extremely well. It's identifiable to the average country radio listener. All in all its just a total package.

Kind of off topic, but I just had to say I saw Jason Michael Carroll twice in the past month as part of multi artist shows and I was really impressed with him. I knew some of his songs but didn't have his CD and had never previously seen him in concert. He had so much stage presence and was just flying around the stage with all kinds of energy. I thought he really cared about his sound and he kept adjusting it at one show to get it perfect. He really came out and put on a great show both times even if it was only a few songs he had time to sing. I might have to buy the new CD. He mentioned this song would be the new single. I like it--very catchy.
Oh and the song with his kid coming out to play his guitar in his sunglasses was way too cute!

I guess I'll have to start double-checking my last couple dozen posts or so, everytime I get ready to post a new message, to make sure I don't contradict myself. Rowdawg is on patrol! One thing's for sure. I've never ever made fun of Tim McGraw, who's my favorite country singer of all time!!!! Anyway, haven't heard JMC's new song yet, but I guess he's still due for one more song that I like to flop, before "the books" get "balanced". I didn't like Alyssa Lies or Livin' Our Love Song at all, and they made it to the top 10, while I really liked I Can Sleep When I'm Dead, and that one died before it could reach the top 20.

Where I'm From" will connect with many...and will be huge!! Not only that song but "Tears" "Stray" "Barnburner" as well. JMC has opened for some really big names this past year...Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Trace Adkins just to name a few but the "best" shows have been in small venues. Whether it be an acoustical show or full band...JMC gives 110%. Not only with his music but with his fans also. The new cd should be out March '09...can't wait!!!! Tears...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HP5DklHcWoc

This is really catchy, but the part about the dying brother really disrupts the song for me. It's like the writers were trying to draw attention to the song, so they threw the ever-popular "somebody's dying" lyric in there. I just think it disrupts the dialogue between the two people in the song. Maybe I'm being overly critical, but this was a very catchy, fun song, but that is the lyric that is stuck in my head. Regardless, I expect this to do well (T10), and I think this is the best fit for JMC's voice yet.

This is a really good song which checks a lot of boxes in terms of being radio-friendly without being too cliched. That said, I am disappointed by the production levels on it; one of JMC's strengths is his rough, raw, unpolished voice, but the choruses of this song are way too polished for my liking. The live video at the beginning of this thread shows the song, and artist, in a much better light, but that said, I would expect - and hope - that this song will be a commercial hit and will go top 10 or higher.

I think it's more important that the dying brother wants to go back "where he's from" before he dies.

I know, I just felt it disrupted the song. For me it took attention away from what the song was really about. I'm sure after a few listens I won't even notice it though.

Even despite that, I agree that this is the best fir for JMC's voice yet. I don't love the song yet, but I wouldn't mind seeing it go top 20 at least.

The more I hear this, the more I like it. It's been quietly tiptoe-ing up the charts.

Depending on which chart is viewed...this song has tiptoed to #31-34. That seems quite good since several parts of the country hasn't heard it on their station yet. Thanks for helping with that here! DustinJ...Those are some really good songs on your list!

If Jason Aldean goes recurrent based on spins next week like I think he will, then this should move into the top 10.

I agree that this should hopefully make the top 10 next week...It has to keep up speed though.
Also, I thought I'd let you guys know that "Where I'm From" is now the #1 song this week on the Sirius/XM top 50 countdown! ;)
