If they release this song, her album sales will continue to drop...this song stinks...she should release ..Say Something And you think because you say it sucks everyone else does too? Second of all, it's not even being released by Mariah, it's being released by Twista. Yes..im saying that "So Lonely"...will not be a hit on all formats..."Say Something" can.

Why bother battling over So Lonely and Say Something when Stay The Night is clearly the best among them all.
Stay The Night for me is the third best on this album after It's Like That and We Belong Together and certain it will be a multi-format hit. I dont know why cant IDJ realize that, or perhaps Kanye is not allowing them to release it?

Who is Kanye to allow or not allow, he is in Universal too, he better listen to his bosses and u cant stop Mariah Carey when she is big. OK maybe in 2003 justin/jive stopped her from releasing yours, bet theyre feeling like a**holes now. Anyhow kanye's new single is a flop and his album wont be selling like hotcakes anymore so its not like he wants his album sales to not get interrupted or something, STN will help his reputation after all he is one of the producers.

It'd be funny to see what happens if Kanye disapproves, and they release it anyway. You know he wouldn't keep his mouth shut. It'd be great promotion for the song, and not help Kanye's already worsening reputation.

I doubt that Kanye has any say over what singles are chosen from Mimi, nor should he, so I don't think anything is being blocked; at least I hope not.
And seriously, unless his album starts picking up a lot, Mariah's album will end up selling about 2-3 million more with Mimi than he has for Late Registration. So, beyond his current "it" status and critical tongue baths, I don't see why its thought that he'd have so much clout at the label, that he'd be able to force the lavel executives to block Mariah from releasing a song. Id say that at this point in time, keeping Mariah happy would be the financially better move than keeping Kanye happy.
Anyway, the arrogant prick would have something else successful to take credit for, so I don't know why he'd be against it.

Well I hope that's the case.
I just couldnt believe they havent released this song when this was originally the planned lead off single from this album.

So Lonely will be huge no doubt!
I don't understand all the hype over Stay the night, this song is so overrated imo And she has realized too much slow songs for this album (wbt, sio which is a mid tempo, and dfau), she'll bore people with all her screaming.

This is my ringtone, it's good but I can't see it being a hit.
Hopefully she releases Stay The Night.

I'm suprised so many people think this won't be a hit. This song actually seems like it has hit written all over it to me.

I don't get it either. This will definitely be a rhythmic and Urban hit, and actually won't do so bad on pop. It has charted early on the Pop 100, so I see pop embracing this song. This has one of the catchiest choruses and is very infectious, so it will do very well I think.

This is going to be huge. It has all the makings of a huge hit. It hasn't been released yet and people already know the words. And i'm talking about people who don't have the albums.

FINALLY..So Lonely(Twista's) officially goes to radio on Jan. 17th..Mariah will probably wait to release her version to digital outlets like DFAU. I see this song being huge at radio because nothing else sounds like it.

Yes..im saying that "So Lonely"...will not be a hit on all formats..."Say Something" can. I agree... this will NOT be a hit at all formats... this one, along with Gwen's latest, sure make Kelly Clarkson's new one look a lot better than it really is...

It doesn't sound or smell like a hit... I've owned the Mariah CD for couple of weeks now, and this is one that I now skip over... I certainly don't know the words, nor do I really care to... easily one of the 3 or 4 worst songs on her CD IMHO... She could have done A LOT better for a single release! :(

I thought this would be great as a sixth single, but as a fifth, I would have liked something where she isn't "cooing" and making sexual sounds... I don't want it to affect the her perception and image for the Grammys. Releasing STN or MA or Circles would showcase "The Voice." I think that SS and So Lonely would do well at radio, but right now, if she wants to win those Grammys, releasing a song that can be a hit and that the critics will laud is a more strategic move.

By the time this song is released and the video for it as well the Grammy voting will more than likely be over. I have a feeling at this point the voters have made up their mind as to whether they are going to give Mariah a Grammy or not anyway, so I think she can do little at this point to dissuade them. Besides So Lonely can be the pre-Grammy release to help her sell some albums and she can hold off on the 5th TEOM single until after the Grammys to continue driving sales.

keep in mind this is Twista's song not Mariah's she just a featured artist ASSUMING it hit #1, it would still count as Mariah's 18th I believe.

A couple of points.......
1. I don't mind people saying/thinking this is one of her worst songs off TEOM/Re-release.... cause if you pay attention, it's one of the BEST on Twista's album.. ..So, the worst song on a best album nominee doesn't really speak so badly about the track...... (and Twista is more of a respected rapper in the industry, although not mainstream)
2. Mariah is nominated for WBT, Mine Again, and ILT..... i think she has enough promotion for "The Voice" than needed.......
3. Really, I think the general audience will see it more of a Twista song since he sings the main versus...... To me, it just seems like a collabo that Mariah is featured on.......I don't think it can hurt her that much
4. Why must every Mariah song be a cross-over smash?....... let her put out an all urban hit!... let her do well on r&B charts only.....who cares if it's not a multi format conquer....... we've already seen that she can do it.... let her focus her material on a specific genre for once.....
5. Pretty much any of the singles (Say Something, Circles, Stay the Night) that could be released after this will make up for whatever people think she'll be losing by singing the hook on a rap song.......
6 7 8 9 10
etc.......

Well, the fact of the matter is when albums aren't in the top 50 on the album chart they usually don't recover that much. I can't see this song benefitting Twista more than Mariah. Someone made the point earlier would you want this song on al abum that only has one Urban hit or would you want this song on an album that has hit after hit. I would think people would want to get this song from the Best Selling Album of the year rather than an album that has barely done anything.

Does anyone have the lyrics to the chorus?? I can't really make out what MC is saying ??? vOlCaNiC, I'm not sure how you could assume it will hit #1 especially since you don't understand what she's saying in the chorus... It's never a good sign for a song when fans of it can't understand the lyrics...
