I'm all for using the recurrent rules as well (which would at least make the music on the show more listenable), but even if Ryan Seacrest did that, there would still be a lot missing from the show itself that used to be always present with Casey Kasem, such as interesting chart trivia and straight-forward data about chart movements as opposed to constant celebrity gossip.
One of Rick Dees' features that I did like were clips of old versions of songs if they are sampled on a current hit, or a clip of an old song and how it relates to a new song, or clips/montages of the artist's previous hit(s). I thought AT40 would incorporate some of these with their revamp, but they haven't. So the new AT40 has nothing to offer that Casey Kasem didn't, plus it's missing all the elements from Casey Kasem's version that I liked.

It was a toss-up between Casey and the recurrent rules, but I voted for Casey.
I'm glad Casey doesn't have a crew of people sitting behind him laughing in the studio.
