Anyone else think this week's Top 5 songs will make up half of the year end Top 10 in December?
I think BWY, Unwritten, and SOS are definites, with YB a probable, and Temperature ending up 11 or 12.
Throw in Beyonce, Ne-Yo, and Chris Brown and this week's chart may hold most of what we will see in the Top 10 at the end of the year.
I'm hoping Savin' Me will show Nickelback longevity and end up there as well. Bad Day also has a probable shot at making the final cut if it doesn't fizzle out after American Idol ends next month.
It will also be interesting to see which songs in the next couple of months can manage to squeeze in and possibly challenge this group for a year end Top 10.

The key to the top 10 year-end for songs this early is longevity as recurrents. If Mary J. Blige comes out with another huge pop single and BWY drops off the chart quickly, then she may not make it. Her spin totals at #1 were not superb (never exceeded 8500 for an update). I believe Beyonce will be in the top 10 year-end though. I also wouldn't be suprised to see Chris Brown there too. Unwritten is also a huge possibility as that song has be in the top 10 for quite a while. SOS, on the other hand, I'm not sure. Rihanna is dropping another single in less than a month (as of right now), which could kill this single's chances.

Rihanna might actually make it to #1. OMFGZ. It's really up in the air, actually. I think Natasha, Rihanna and Sean Paul all have a chance this week.

Out of those three, Rihanna has a clear advantage as of right now. She could pass Natasha tomorrow afternoon or Thursday. Sean Paul is stumbling a bit in terms of gains, and Natasha is still holding strong but may have to settle for #2 or 3 this week.

But now Natasha is gaining again and Sean Paul is sneaking right behind...

YEAH!!!!!!! Chris Brown lost his bullet!!!!!!!!!!! WOO HOOO!!!!!!!!!! I hated "Yo" and can never understand why KIIS through it into 100+ spins....hell, the as-horrible "One Wish" is still KIIS's most played song of the year so far.
I think KIIS needs to evaluate which songs they take into their top group....

^I agree with you. Yo kinda grew on me, but I hated One Wish. I don't understand how were those songs as big as they were.

I'm also happy about Yo losing its bullet as this will finally enable Right Here to officially go top10.

I actually really like "Yo", which may put me in the minority, but the song did get a bullet back today. I wish it would have gone top 10 on POP, but i guess it made the Top 10 on the Hot 100 which is a bigger accomplishment due to the multi format success

Here are my random thoughts: chart edition, from the top to the bottom.
14 8 SHAKIRA Hips Don't Lie (f/Wy... 5451 3914 1537 50.775
WTF is this?! It's not an exceptional song by any means. It's okay, but not bullet over 1000 worthy.
9 12 BEYONCE Check On It 4296 5127 -831 28.633
Should be taking lessons from NE-YO,
8 15 NE-YO So Sick 3900 5237 -1337 27.678
24 20 NICK LACHEY What's Left Of Me 2759 2357 402 19.163
Anyone else suprised by this? I knew that divorce was a publicity stunt! lol
27 26 BO BICE Real Thing 2534 2186 348 13.813
AND THAT...damn, how's he got a hit? That song is horrific.
34 35 ROB THOMAS Ever The Same 1283 1285 -2 4.991
MISTAKE.
42 39 ANNA NALICK Breathe (2AM) 894 756 138 5.601
I tend to love things like this happening. I think it's deserving, it spent all that time hanging around before and I didn't hear it, but now that I've heard it (with it's second? third? fourth? wave,) I like it!
39 41 MATISYAHU King Without A Crown 878 908 -30 5.509
Should be -908
53 52 YING YANG TWINS Shake f/Pitbull 397 397 0 7.416
Why don't they send this for adds already?
51 71 KANYE WEST Touch The Sky 208 419 -211 0.791
WRONG.
52 73 ASHLEE SIMPSON L.O.V.E. 194 399 -205 0.656
RIGHT. (although it should have never even gotten that far.)
85 75 CARRIE UNDERWOOD Jesus, Take The Whee... 183 139 44 1.065
This should be ahead of "The Real Thing" at all times. One of the stations I listen to just added this and it's great! How was it a country hit? It's not country, I wouldn't say.
148 103 LIFEHOUSE Blind 82 38 44 0.239
Are they realizing they messed up?
121 112 PITBULL Bojangles 71 59 12 0.954
LOL ... what is this?

It needs to stay on country and maybe AC where it belongs - vanilla music for old people. "The Real Thing" has really grown on me. I love it and I'm hearing a lot of positive buzz about it.

Everything In Transit , I like your "random thoughts" posts .
The race for #1 is too close to call , if Natasha somehow manages to get a sudden boost , she may end up at #1 on sunday . I hope Rihanna takes it and Natasha hangs on long enough to sneak in for a week before Shakira takes over .

I doubt that gliben. Sean Paul has more spins and is also gaining more. I think Unwritten has to settle for a peak of #2, which is still awesome.

It's pretty good, but I have to wonder what made Pop radio decide to just make this a hit? 27 26 BO BICE Real Thing 2534 2186 348 13.813 AND THAT...damn, how's he got a hit? That song is horrific. I think the real question is how is that still bulleted, and with that much of one? This has now been charting for 3 months - I would have expected Pop radio to have given up on it by now.

Rihanna is #1 as of the first Friday update. Sean's at #2 and only 2 spins behind. Both songs are gaining at almost the same rate, as well. Looks like it'll be a very close race, come Sunday. Natasha's been kicked back to #4. She's still bulleted, but not as strong. I'm thinking #2 is as good as it gets for her.

Hmm, I'll beg to dinner. This has "summer hit" written all over it, and it's refreshing to hear on the air. It's headed to #1, although I'm slightly surprised it's taken off the way it has. I guess American Idol truly works wonders, eh? This is going to hit #1 on the Hot 100 if/when they release it on iTunes, any word on when that's happening?
Word. This is the second time in a row CHR has screwed Rob over with a smash hit...this is about the only time I'll ever give Cumulus stations props for giving this masterpiece decent spins.
Nope, the AWESOME 95SX / Charleston (that station is mad cool, and a breath of fresh air to hear) just shifted it back into power rotation. I will never understand how this flopped. Ever.
Pretty much all WHYI / Miami is what it is. Makes sense, really... I don't imagine it can be terribly good with a title like that, though.
I find it interesting that there are three songs with enormous bullets, but the rest really seem relatively low. You've got Daniel Powter, which has American Idol and other hype behind it, Shakira/Wyclef, which hit just in time for summer and has had mad promotion over the past few months, plus the Fort Minor, which never even went for adds but is such an obvious hit I'm not surprised it has taken off like this.

It's going to be REALLY close between Sean Paul and Rihanna. I hope Rihanna gets it in the end.
And Natasha could pass Mary J. Blige. If this happens, when was the last time a song fell 1-4?

I And Natasha could pass Mary J. Blige. If this happens, when was the last time a song fell 1-4? The last time a song fell 1-4 was Mario's Let Me Love You in 2005 when the song lost the #1 spot to Green Day's Boulevard of Broken Dreams (recall that Ciara interrupted Mario's run at the top by 1 week). And just for kicks, the last time a song fell 1-5 was Shaggy's Angel in 2001 when it lost the #1 spot to Janet's All For You.
