I heard 2 Become 1 one the radio today for the first time in years and decided to go find the CD. Who doesn't have this CD? Like Chris rock said, everyone would diss them, and then go listen to them in their room with their doors shut. I can honestly say this is one of the best pop CD's ever. While a lot of people look back and just think about the marketing and outrageous outfits, it was really the music that made them. Sure the personas helped, but the songs were and are to this day still extremely well crafted. Every track was well done, no filler. They got flack for their voices, too, which are 10 times better than Hilary Duff, Ashlee Simpson, Britney (save Halliwell maybe), and like those stars, could also put on a damn good performance. Spice World was a dcent pop CD, and Forever was a mistake with one or two good songs, but I think Spice will be in people's collections for years to come. I guess it has gotten a lot of recognition in CD lists and stuff in magazines, and those ridiculous VH1 shows always shocase them, but I don't think they got the recognition they deserved.

Great CD. I didn't really like them until the second album came out.
My favorite song off "Spice" was "2 Become 1."
Who here doesn't know the dance to "If U Can't Dance"? Latin smash!

Yes this is one of the best pop albums ever, from the best pop group ever! I preferred the "Spice World" album though. However, their debut has killer singles and I am proud to own it and listen to it.

Who doesn't have this CD? I don't. I secretly wanted to buy it back then. Now I want it again, and once I find a cheap copy in perfect condition, I will definitely buy it.

Even though album number 2 didn't sell over 20 million copies (as Spice did) its mature pop sound really was amazing, and i feel it was over all, a better record. But Spice was amazing in its own right. Up until this year, late 90's pop has experienced a bacl-lash, now however, people are realising it is this type of 'happy' music that really makes us feell good. Spice and the singles it produced were brilliant. I feel that if Spice World had all four singles released in America (as it sold just as mcuh everywheer else) it would have almost sold 7 milloin (whilst its certified 4xplat, it has sold 5million copies.) Both albums were amazing! Now we're going to hear alot more of them now the back-lash is going!

Spiceworld was definitely the superior album. "Never Give Up On The Good Times" and "Viva Forever" are my favourite songs of theirs.
But both albums are brilliant. They deserve more respect than they get.

Spice Girls rock. Their 1st cd has such great song. I like every single song on there. Does anybody know any websites that have some of their performances or anything? It'd be cool to see...I remember I wanted to go to see them in concert so bad when they came here to Dallas when I was in 4th grade but nobody wanted to take me because everyone was too cool to like Spice Girls...blah.

I loved their first two albums, especially Spice which i played like crazy back in the days.. The first time i have listened to "What do you think you're" i was really impressed, it's so catchy! :o I thought "the lady is a vamp" was a great choice to close Spice World. My favourite from them are "What do you think you're", "Too Much", "Say you'll be there", "2 become 1" and "Last time lover". If you can't dance was really funny, and Never give up the good times a great catchy song This group was really huge and deserved it, they did their things.

All those who put their impact over their music are quite right in the way they feel. In many ways, the Spice Girls were the last true pop phenomena ever. It wasn't just the sales numbers or their massive popularity. It also had to do with their cultural impact. Whoever manages to turn slogans like Girl Power into commonly used terms right into this day can only be considered as cultural icons of the highest order. But then again, the music just aged badly. For the record, it wasn't already that good the first time around. Big catchy hooks notwithstanding, production wise their music was just too safe and stuck into tried and tested winning formulas to be considered anything approaching innovative, much less original, making it too tied to its time, place and context to ever survive both closer analysis and the test of time. In many ways, the Spice Girls were brilliant in every way, except what brought them here in the first place: the music. It doesn't Einstein to see that the Spice Girls were a cynically engineered thing all the way through. The music was just a tip of the whole marketing strategy, which included all the merchandising possible in this and other worlds: sold out concert tours, T-shirts, lunchboxes, food products, comic books and the infamous Spiceworld movie itself, among a ton of other things. What could never be cynically arranged, though, was how MASSIVE the whole entrerprise would turn out to be. I don't think manager Simon Fuller and Virgin Records would ever imagine that would look like it was going to be just another short-lived teenage sensation (and it was) would transform itself into a socio-cultural beast of unimaginable (and unmanageable too) proportions and, in the process, influence a future generation of pre-tween girls way of thinking. And that's where the importance of the Spice Girls lies, more than anything.

My Spice album is falling to pieces because of how much I've played it growing up. I loved it so much. The singles were great and all the album tracks were just as good in my opinion... loved the R&B-ish feel that a lot of them had! The b-sides during this era (like "Take Me Home" and "Bumper to Bumper") were also great! Funny how this was a huge hit with kids (at least in Brazil) when a lot of the lyrics were actually quite "adult"... in our defense, we didn't know what any of them said. LOL
