Never did chart in the US apparently though would be considered her biggest international hit in 1978 - hitting #1 in the UK for 4 weeks, #1 in Australia for 3 weeks...
Lurvely...

OMFWord! My teacher had us listen to this and sing to it (she printed out lyrics with "fill in the blanks") after we finished reading the play last year!

I love this song, but I can see why it wouldn't fit the US market (especially for 1978).

Not really a ballad. A totally unique piece of music really, can't even put it in a genre. She very much inspired Tori Amos and you can tell.
I reccomend you download:
Babooshka Moving Army Dreamers Get Out Of My house Running Up That Hill Cloudbusting Houds Of love The Sensual World

She was one of the first artists I think to entirely do the album on the Fairlight Synclavier if I'm not mistaken. What is Kate doing now? Did she entirely leave the music industry? Last I heard she was married and expecting a kid, or did I hear this wrong?

Let's not forget that Pat Benatar put the song on her Gold album "Crimes of Passion" in 1980. Pat does not sing the song live because it is "difficult to do".

What is Kate doing now? Did she entirely leave the music industry? Did a few searches of fan sites (doesn't appear that Kate has an "official" site of her own), and she's apparently working on her long-awaited 8th studio album (due in the near future, hopefully).

Babooshka is extremely ace. Within Temptation did a good cover of Running Up That Hill too.

This is a definite classic in my book. As matter fact, I was led to read the novel because of this song. Definitely among her best despite all that she would go on to achieve sonically later.

Truth. This is a definite classic in my book. As matter fact, I was lead to read the novel because of this song. Definitely among her best despite all that she would go on to achieve sonically later. It did not move me quite enough to actually read the book, but once I did so as part of a class in high school, this song went back into major spin territory, along with a couple of Cliff Richard tracks from the Heathcliff stage show, all of which I could appreciate even more with some context. I agree that this is still some of her best work.

Twilight is incredibly poorly written, but yeah I'm a fan - it's a guilty pleasure. Wuthering Heights is a classic work of literature which I love for completely different reasons.

Kate Bush is probably my favourite female solo artist and this is one of her best works. One of the greatest hits of the 1970s. I love the lyrics and how she turned such a disturbing scene into a seemingly beautiful love story; I love the unusual instrumentation and Ian Bairnson's guitar solo. It's such a breath of fresh air among music of the time and still would be now. Because of that it has this timeless quality. It certainly doesn't sound modern but is almost impossible to date. That's also why the 1986 re-recording for The Whole Story doesn't quite work. It sounds so obviously dated, more-so that almost all the rest of her work.

Kate Bush, why is this woman so brilliant? Definitely one of my favorite songs from her, I remember during my heavy Kate Bush phase I used to wear this out.

This song is pure genius and has got to be one of the best recordings in the history of music.
