Notes: * "All For Love" spends its fourth week on top of the Radio & Records
chart for Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart and Sting. Two hot songs, "The
Power Of Love", Celine Dion's 3rd Top 5 single, and Color Me Badd's
6th Top 5 single, "Choose" are frozen at #3 and #4 respectively in
their 8th and 6th weeks on the chart as an even hotter song, Ace Of
Base's "The Sign" barrels up from #9 to land at #2 in its 4th week.
To round off the extremely competitive Top 5, Janet Jackson's 18th
Top 10 single, "Because Of Love" shoots up from #10 to #5 in only
its fourth week on.
* Mariah Carey continues to maintain her streak of consecutive weeks
in the Top 10. Although "Hero" nosedives from #7 to #22 this week,
her current single, "Without You" rockets from #30 to enter the Top
10 at #10 in only its second week on the chart.
Consecutive Weeks In Top 10 - Active Streaks
--------------------------------------------
24 Mariah Carey
12 Bryan Adams
10 Toni Braxton
5 The Cranberries
* "Without You" is the Top Mover on this week's chart, having the
biggest gain since "Hero" jumped 21 spots on October 30/93. Other
songs make large jumps this week, including a 10 point jump by
All-4-One to #23 with their version of "So Much In Love", a cover
of The Tymes' 1962 #1 hit "So In Love". Last week's Top Mover,
Eternal's "Stay", continues to race up the chart, up another nine
to #16 this week.
* The past few weeks have seen a massive turnover in the upper regions
of the chart. Only three songs from the Top 10 four weeks ago remain
in the Top 10 presently, a possibly unprecedented small number.
* After hitting #20 last week with "Queen Of The Night" to give Whitney
Houston five Top 20 singles from _The Bodyguard_ soundtrack, she
eases down a spot.
* Salt-N-Pepa's "Shoop" halts its fall by remaining at #11 for a second
week, while Def Leppard's "Miss You In A Heartbeat" holds at #13 for
a third week. Former Top Mover "Will You Be There (In The Morning)"
from Heart appears to have run out of gas at #17, while the MTV
Unplugged cover of Sam Cooke's "Having A Party" holds at #19.
* Four songs enter the chart this week. Ce Ce Peniston returns to the
charts with her 4th Top 40 hit, as "I'm In The Mood" appears at #40.
Zhane's follow-up to "Hey Mr. D.J.", "Groove Thang", debuts at #39
for their second Top 40 hit, while Jodeci enters the chart with their
former R&B #1 single "Cry For You". It is their third chart hit. The
top debut this week is The Breeders' first charting single,
"Cannonball", at #35.
