This was like an anthem at the time it was out, what with its message of "I'll give you love, but you have to give me love back". Anyway, I love this one, one of Karyn's best (if not THE best).

This song was one of my personal faves of 1989. Was #1 on my personal chart for about five weeks. It had a weird run on the R&R chart, particularly on its way down. It peaked at #9, fell to 10, and then the next week, plunged all the way to #32! I expected it to be out of there the following week, but it dropped to #36 then. I guess the mid-part of the chart was tight, but below #32 was a soft spot on the chart. Karyn's hair is out of control in that video. Was this the video where she accidentally scratched her face when she was wildly moving her hands around (or something like that)?

Oh my goodness this was THE jam back in '89. Me and my cousins knew the whole song by heart and still do.

LA Reid and Babyface went to werk on this song, classic. This, Romantic, Secret Rendezvous, and Facts of Love (even if that's a feature with Jeff Lorber) are my overall fav. Karyn songs. The lyrics on this + with her vocals are just amazing imo.

She needs to stop decorating houses and come back to music. Karyn had some killer singles. One of my faves was one of her biggest flops, "Do Unto Me"

Superwoman is Karyn White's second single off her debut album. Superwoman became her second Top 10 hit (Pop) and second No. 1 R&B single. The song is often regarded as Karyn's signature song as it struck a chord with women around the world. Get into this classic gem.

Love it, one of her best.
Gladys Knight covered this a few years later with Patti LaBelle and Dionne Warwick.

Great song. Her signature song but she's had better singles ("The Way I Feel About You", "Romantic", "Secret Rendezvous").

YAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSS! I was in second grade when this came out and I remember all the girls on the playground singing this acapella by the swing sets, haha. Such a good song.

The feels in those lyrics, man. :'(
This was also the #1 R&B song for all of 1989 (and for that matter, also the only one strong enough to keep Bobby Brown out of #1 in a 5-hit stretch from him).

I miss hearing songs like these. They don't make them like they used to. :'(
