This was the sadly overlooked 4th single from Whitney's album "I'm Your Baby Tonight." I liked it a lot. Too bad it didn't get more airplay.

This song was OK, but the song that I think deserved more exposure than it got was "Miracle". That is definitely one of my favorite songs by her ever (along with "Greatest Love Of All" and "Where Do Broken Hearts Go".

This is from the studio album that I think is by far her worst. The only single I really love from this album is her cover of "All The Man That I Need". Everything else ranges from mediocore to bad. This one is okay, but today, it's extremely outdated and ridiculous.

I agree with you on Miracle. One of my favorites from her back when I was working at an AC station back in '91. It's true that My Name Is Not Susan is not her best song from "I'm Your Baby Tonight" but it has quite a beat to it in this LA/Babyface produced track.

It has alay sbeen my favorite Whitney song and I play it reularly to this very day lol.Β Matter of fact i'm listeing to it now which is what made me look up this thread!! I loved ALL her singles from the album. Where did these songs peak? "i'm your baby tonight" "my name is not susan" "all the man i need" "miracle" Was "lover for life" "anymore" or "who do u love" released? I LOVE those too!! Especially "anymore"!

"i'm your baby tonight" - #1 (1 week) "my name is not susan" - #23 "all the man i need" - #1 (2 weeks) "miracle" - #12
I heard "Lover For Life" on a smooth jazz station once. Not sure if it was ever released to Pop or AC. It's a great song.

I knew her name wasn't susan, so there was no point for me to listen to it.

I actually thought it was a stupid song, and I was in radio at the time it came out. My Arista rep sent it to me and I said this is hardly one of Whitney's better songs. I gave it some airplay, but it never really caught on with the listeners. Thank Goodness.
I still think her first album was Whitney's absolute best. Nothing will ever beat "You Give Good Love" as far as I'm concerned.

Good song, but not in the upper echelon of Whitney's best songs.

very forgettable. the title track to this album is incredible though, one of the best vocal performances on an upbeat track ever.

Very cheesy, but fun. I like this one, I can only really tolerate Whitney on upbeat songs.

This is a funny song! I knew about this song, but I only heard this during the last few months. However, I was familiar with Dana International's breakthrough track "Sa'ida Sultana" (also known as "My Name Is Not Sa'ida"). It was basically a really naughty half English/half Arabic remake/cover of this song. I only recently found that out and noticed the similarities in the songs. It was clever.
Whitney's version is alright, but it's all about Dana's.

This wasn't my favorite song by Whitney, but it certainly was a lot better than the overplayed "I'm Your Baby Tonight", which I never liked in the first place.

And he KNOWS that my name is not Susan! I never know this song until like six years ago, so I didn't get that line from Salt N Pepa until then. This song is a jam in small doses. Not something I can overplay. lol

I'm probably the only person that feels the same way as I do but I seriously think this is her best recording other than "My Love Is Your Love." But maybe that's because I'm not too much of Whitney Houston fan...
