Homer and Marge's theme.
This hit #1 back in the summer of 1970. Great oldie.

Didn't Tamia remake this for her More album?

I like it but I like other things The Carpenters have done better. They would be an example of a group who didn't release much original material as singles, but still merit the acclaim, in my opinion.

Do you remember the 1970 #1 song for the Carpenters called "They Long to Be Close To You"? It was the #1 song heard on the recent rebroadcast of the August 1, 1970 Billboard chart on the recent AT40: The 70's episode.
I know the "Why do birds suddenly appear" notes were later used as a doorbell chime in an episode of "The Simpsons".

Close to You was used several times in the flashback episode of when Homer & Marge first met. It's heard on the car radio Homer is driving, heard again when he meets Marge, and Artie sings it to Marge during their dance.

I even heard this song in the #1 slot in the recent AT40: The 1970's rebroadcast of the August 1, 1970 AT40 countdown.

One of the most beautiful songs to me. But also it makes me sad. I can't seem to detach the song from how I remember what happened to Caren Carpenter. ????

I really like this one. The Carpenters hold the record for most #1s on the AC chart by a duo/group.
