A few songs he's sung I didn't know were by him until just recently. Alot of them are pretty good.
People Gotta Move - From the early 70's. Okay I didn't care for this one.
I Just Wanna Stop - Great tune from the late 70's and a big hit.
Living Inside Myself - Heard this many times but just found out tonight he did it.
Hurts to Be in Love - Another one just found it that he did. Did this hit the US charts?
Wild Horses - A hit here in Canada back in 1987, this should've been a hit down south too. Loved it back then, still great now.

Big fan of "Living Inside Myself". "I Don't Wanna Stop" isn't bad either. I don't know his other hits.

Don't forget his new-wavish rocker "Black Cars" which peaked at #42 in a (for that chart era) rather long 16 week run. Really cool tune.

Seems to me that there were a lot of low peakers that spent a long time on the chart in 1985. "And She Was" by the Talking Heads and "Through The Fire" by Chaka Khan both peaked in the lower half of the Hot 100 but spent upwards of 20 weeks on the chart (now, songs that peak below number 50 can spend no more than 20 weeks on).

Black Cars was huge on WLOL Minneapolis/St. Paul in fact the #11 song for the entire year. Where it was played, it did well that might explain the long chart run.
My favorite Gino Vanelli skit was on SCTV. Eugene Levy (American Pie fame & other movies) played Gino with a lip sync version of "I Just Want To Stop", each time he turned his back to the camera he had more hair on his body, eventually he became an ape.

Yep, the 80's charts had some cool anomalies just like the 70's charts. "And She Was" was pretty big on top 40 radio here in New York. 1982 saw Soft Cell's then historic 43 week run on the Hot 100. I think the early 80s were when the country charts had those great 1-22 drops much like the Hot 100 for several months of 1974 did. (tho it was 1-12 in pops case) I don't have the chart books in front of me because they are still packed and in my old apartment, but from 1979-1981 or so, there were so many songs that fell 29-91 or something. And of course, the big R&B hits of the 80's were barely represented at all on the hot 100. There are just too many instances of #1s or #2s not even charting. Just ridiculous.
