Probably my favorite James Taylor song. Every time I hear it I just want to relax and sing along. I think it's one of his more "unique" songs, too. A lot of his other songs kind of blend together for me. They're all good but I think as an artist he stuck with one particular "type" of song for a while, and this one has always stuck out to me.
It certainly was one of his less successful singles, but stands out as one of my favorites.

I like it. Casey played it earlier this year on AT10. The spotlight was "Songs named after places."

Mexico sadly was never played on AT40 when it was released as a single because the record only got #49 in 1975

I believe he recorded an updated version of it back in 1995 and it made it to the Top Ten of the AC chart. It may not have been played on AT40, but it was indeed played on Casey's Countdown (his AC countdown during the Westwood One years). Not sure if it made the Hot AC chart or not.
I thought it was pretty good, but definitely not one of his best songs.

Maybe you confused that with Jimmy Buffet's cover in 1995

Do you remember a 1975 song by James Taylor called "Mexico"? It only made #49 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. I just heard this as an Optional Extra on this weekend's AT40: The 70's episode of the October 18, 1975 AT40 chart rebroadcast.
