This is definitely one of my favorite Non-Singles of all time. I agree with everyone else, Virgin got all the singles from the "janet" era exactly right...but i wish they would have released this one after "You want this". It was a great song, one of her best. Its so good to look back, because they don't make R&B albums this strong anymore, with so many possible singles.

This has become my favorite Janet song. I've been playing this a lot lately, but that's mostly because I've really been feeling the lyrics.

The "janet" era had so many great singles, album tracks, and b-sides there was no way that every song could have been a single. Radio was already playing this, "throb", "and on and on", along with the single releases. Virgin had planned 2 more single releases, but after "You want this" they just decided to end the era...which was probably the best thing, as most of the would be singles such as this one, had run their course on radio. This was a great song though, one of her best and a personal favorite.

A cute little track- I always liked it. Was this dedicated to a pup? In the liner notes, it says "in memory of to Tivoli," and then mentions "paw prints on our sandy beach."
WAYN cracked the top 20 at Top 40/Rhythm-Crossover.

Timeless album track from the janet. LP. It really does remind you of the richness of her catalogue.
One of her most beautiful melodies, and a truly gorgeous vocal performance. This could easily have been the final single off the album - and when asked, Janet chose this as the one song she wished she had released. Following the album's release, it received a lot of play on Pop, and actually charted there, I believe.
The Nellee Hooper Mix from the janet. Remixed album is also terrific, adding a bit of rhythmic buoyancy to the production. I like the opening "Tell me, babe" refrain on this version.

Such a pretty ballad. Didn't she write it for her dog which went missing?! That's what I remember reading... It should've been a single.

I really like it.
Clarification- it didn't chart on pop, but it did crack top 15 at Top 40/Rhythm-Crossover. And, it peaked at No. 30 on Hot 100 Airplay, where it stayed on the chart for 37 weeks.

That was back when Hot 100 Airplay was just top 40, rhythm-crossover and, I believe, AC and Modern Rock were added circa summer 1993. It had impressive longevity at RC, with 21 weeks on the survey.

Such a great track. It still baffles me that Virgin didn't 'officially' release it as a single.

I definitely remember hearing this on the radio quite a bit. Really nice track. Could've been another big hit for her.

This one always reminded me of Michael. I could see it fitting right in on the "Dangerous" album, near the end with the ballads. It's definitely one of my favorites from "janet."

Really enjoy the Nellee Hooper remix that appears on janet. Remixed, too. Good stuff!

Love this one! I find it fascinating that radio played this a lot and wanted it to be a single so much! It definitely should have been a single over Because of Love or Anytime, Anyplace...

I agree with you about Because of Love. Its a nice enough track, but more of a throw away for me. Anytime, Anyplace, though? Nah - can't touch that one. It turned out to be quite a monster hit (#2 on Billboard Hot 100 for multiple weeks and #1 on the R&B charts for like 8-10 weeks. "Where Are You Now" could have easily been a single, though, and it probably would have charted top 5.

I absolutely love this song, and definately think about someone in particular when I listened to it just now. The lyrics are simple but the song really makes you feel what Janet's singing.
Back in 1993, without facebook or texting and email, you really could disappear off the face of the earth pretty easily if you wanted to. Now, not to easy. I guess when I hear this song I think, "where are you now, in your life?"

Considering radio jumped on it, I think it could have been as big as Anytime, Anyplace. That song just never clicked with me and it's probably my least fav song from the album alongside Funky Big Band...
