Streaking never seems to go entirely out of style, as was evidenced at this morning's Olympic curling match between the US and Great Britain. I remember as a kid doing it with some friends through our neighborhood one night at about midnight, but I can't imagine doing it at a sports competition where it's virtually assured that you're going to be arrested. At any rate, it seemed like the perfect time to bring up this, one of Ray Stevens' biggest hits. The song was hilarious the first few times you heard it, but like most novelty tunes that become popular it grew tiresome after a week or so of airplay.

Reminds me of an episode of High School Stories I saw the other night on MTV2. Two kids streaked across a field during a ball game and, since there were children present, they were found guilty of a sex crime.

I remember this from when I was like 7 years old... I'd always hear it in the neighbor kids car to and from school...

Yes, there should be a penalty for streaking in public, but a sex crime? That's ridiculous. How does simply viewing a naked body hurt a child, and how does nudity itself constitute sex? I've been saying for some time now that this country is becoming a theocracy. I'm beginning to think that we're there now.

A #1 from 1974 - in response to the streaking incident at the Oscars that year. Novelties like this can no longer be played on North American radio unless they result in some sort of dance craze.

I don't mind listening to it about once a year. It's also in the Super Hits of The Seventies collection.
