This song sounds like it's sung by James Taylor. It wasn't a very big hit in April 1983, but I loved it. Any one remember it?

LOL, I thought it was James Taylor at first, too. (Whistlin' Pete must have 1983 on his mind today!) Yeah, this song was a Top 30 hit on the R&R chart (#25 peak, as I recall), yet just missed the Top 40 on Billboard. Pretty cool song.

Oooh, I love this song! I remember taping it off Dick Clark's National Music Survey way back when... nearly 20 years later, I was finally able to download a good copy of the song.
I also don't know the correct way to pronounce his last name... I've heard it with the emphasis on the "Mac", or with the emphasis on the "An".

This song just keeps running through my head today. "Boy get your head out of the stars above, you get the maximum pleasure from a minimum love." I love the instrumental base line in the middle of the song. I have the Dick Clark NMS programs for the entire 4 week chart run of this song. On the week it debuted, Dick Clark said I'm sure we'll be hearing alot more from this artist this year. That would have been nice, but "Minimum Love" had such poor sucess, only peaking at number 25 R&R, and #41 Billboard.

I think I have that show that you're talking about, but I forget which one.

Oh, Yeah, that's right. I'm the one that sent it to you. It was the week it debuted at number 27, April 9, 1983.

I can't say enough good things about this song.Β I recorded it off the radio and only had parts of the song.Β I looked forever to find it on CD with no luck.Β Then, finally like Pete found those NMS's to hear it fully. Yes, all four shows.Β
What a lost gem!!!

This would be one of those "lost hits of the 80's".... the only place I ever heard it was on the national countdowns on weekends... they never played it on the Pop or AC stations out here in So.Cal when it was a minor hit...
Would love to find this on a compliation somewhere or a good download (when I get my new comp)...

I had never heard this song before today. I had heard of it and if I'm remembering correctly it was number 41 on the Hot 100 for quite a few weeks. Good song, feels like a mix between Yacht Rock of the early 80's and Country. Mac sounds a good bit like James Taylor
