Though all of Santana's monster hits have come since 1999, I still think the vintage recordings are among their best. "Oye Como Va" was, until the Supernatural album, the group's signature song IMO. It still remains my favorite by a longshot. Carlos kills the guitar as always, but the percussion and organ solos seal the deal. I like the earthy vibe of this song a lot. An all-around great tune. IMO, it's the best from their hot 1971 album Abraxas. If you want to hear vintage Santana at its best, I recommend this CD. As a collection of songs, I'd even venture to say that it's as good as the pre- Supernatural greatest hits collections. Hot 100: #13 R&B: #32

This is an amazing track.
Carlos did such a good job on the guitars.

A lot of latin rock bands have covered this song, which is proof what a classic this song is.

I fell in love with this song before I ever even had the name "Santana" attached to it. It's probably the song that was most responsible for getting me interested in Carlos as an artist.

was introduced to this song as a little kid by this exchange on Seinfeld:
JERRY: Anyway, any luck getting together on a song?
ELAINE: No. He blew out my Witchy Woman, and he won't share Desperado. Hey, what d'you think of Oye Como Va?
JERRY: (negative) Eehh.
ELAINE: (desperation) Well, I'm running outta guys here in this city, Jer!
