Though the Isley Brothers put Seals & Crofts to shame when they covered this song in 1974, the original is still a strong record in its own right. I heard it today for the first time in a long while. The original version was the first big hit for Seals & Crofts in 1972, charting at #6 in the USA. The melody in the verses is really catchy. They make great use of vocal harmonies and guitar riffs to achieve the chilled-out groove. These guys had a couple of great records, including "Diamond Girl" and "You're The Love." But they never really achieved much success outside of the USA. The Isley Brothers' record only made #60 on the Hot 100 (and #10 R&B), despite being much stronger IMO.

I thought they were the only ones to do it. I'll have to check out the Isley Bros. version.
Love the song.

One of my favorite oldies. I didn't know the Isleys had covered it either.

It sounds like the melody from this song is used in "Pullin' Me Back" by Chingy.

I listen to The Isley Brothers version more, but it's a great song.

I like this one. So mellow. Never knew the Isley Brothers had their own version of this song. Much more funkier yet I prefer the original Seals & Crofts verison.
