You put de lime in de coconut, and drink 'em bot' upThis is a really fun track from 1972 -- one of three top-10 hits from the late Harry Nilsson. It's a funny calypso-flavored tune that features Nilsson singing the parts of three characters. I had heard this song a bunch of times before I realized it was actually a real commercial single, released by an actual reputable artist. I put this tune on my mix of 1970s pop songs because it's really memorable and fun. You'd hardly think that this witty song is from the same guy who released the over-the-top and cheesy ballad "Without You." In fact, "Coconut" is on the same album as that song: The LP is called Nilsson Schmilsson, and it's actually pretty good. Hot 100: #8 UK: #42

Dannii Minogue did a great version of this. That's my favourite.
