The Rolling Stones cover is pretty good, too. All around great song, and I think the Temps' version of it is the best.

Why is everything a hot remake to you? This song is made during the 60s, as in way different arrangement from TLC's. Try looking at the writers credits next time. But seriously, it's a great song. Definetly passes the test of time.

I love it. Not huge on the Temptations otherwise, much prefer the Four Tops.

Definetly passes the test of time. It's a joke on this board, and I usually restrict myself from doing it, but couldn't resist. I'm not a moron, I know the Temptations were big in the 60's and so was the song.

Don't sweat it, I wasn't serious. And I didn't say that you were a moron. It's a habit that you somehow can't shake, that's all. Besides, we're only human.

CyberTLC fans thought whenever someone on American Idol was gonna sing "Aint too proud to beg" that they were gonna start busting out with "Yo if I need it in the mornin or the middle of the night..!" :-\

Phenomenal song... I think this was their biggest R&B hit, if I'm not mistaken.

This classic only got to #13 on the pop chart in 1966

I love it. Not huge on the Temptations otherwise, much prefer the Four Tops. I agree with pretty much all of this. I like a couple of their other tracks better, but this is one of my favorites by them... and I also prefer the Four Tops overall.

Holland-Dozier-Holland receive so much praise for their excellent writing and production for Motown that it's easy to forget that the label had other geniuses churning out hits during the same period. One of my favorites was Norman Whitfield. In addition to marking hits for Marvin Gaye Gladys Knight, he produced most of the Temptations late-1960s and early-1970s hits. "Ain't Too Pround To Beg" was among his first big hits for the group in 1966 (though Eddie Holland did write the lyrics). This is a great piece of polished 1960s uptempo soul music. It also wound up being the group's biggest R&B hit, staying atop the charts for eight weeks (#13 pop). The bassline is catchy and David Ruffin on lead is incredible. The other cool thing about Whitfield is that, unlike HDH, he was really able to evolve as a writer/producer and remain relevant long after the glory days of Motown. He moved the Temptations into the psychedelic soul sound of the early 1970s and then he produced a string of classics for Rose Royce like "Love Don't Live Here Anymore."

I love this song, and lots of other stuff by the Temps. The Rolling Stones also had an excellent version of it.

This is a solid good record. Rick Astley also did a nice job remaking the song in 1988 from his "Hold Me In Your Arms" CD.
Just two nights ago I watched Nick At Nite and watched Will & Uncle Phil do their little dance on an episode of my all-time favourite sitcom "The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air". Now that's a classic!
