The word that best describes this song for me is "dangerous." This song has so much edge and passion, I LOVE IT! This was one of my favorite album tracks from the "janet." album, and it definately could have been asingle in the U.S. This featured a opera solo by Kathleen Battle. This was written and produced by Janet, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.

It was my favourite of the "Janet" album when it was released. Still love it, but now I prefer "If".

It's brilliant; one of my favorites on the janet. LP. I'm kind of glad this wasn't released as a single, because it didn't deserve to be commercialized. It's so much better as a standout album track. This Time is a gem for those who actually own the album.
"You're dismissed." - CLASSIC! :)

I like it, but it's kind of weird for me because it sounds like a weaker version of "If" and they're only a couple of tracks apart on the album.

I like it, although it starts off very slow and melodramatic at first. It sounds like dance and opera mixed together. It's definitely one of the many highlights from Janet.

Completely overrated Janet track. I'd even go as far to say it was the worst on that brilliant album, and the worst in her catalog. Such a horrible horrible song. Kudas though to uniquely inviting Kathleen Battle to sing on it though. If only Janet would have come up with a better song.

It was a good song... Not my fav but a good one at that. I don't know how someone can think that album is overrated. It had some GREAT songs on it: That's The Way Love Goes, If, You Want This, Anytime Anyplace, Again, New Agenda, Because Of Love

There are so many stand-out tracks on janet. All the ones you mentioned plus "Throb". "The Body That Loves You" was the weakest track on the album, in my opinion. Or "Whoops Now" if you count the hidden/bonus track.

They were considering this for single release at some point, as I know they did a radio edit of it. But it never came to pass (thankfully - great song, but best left as an album track).

I used to love it more before, the production itself is still top-notch but I guess the actual song is a bit simple, especially the chorus.

Lord, this was so epic at the time. Very cinematic. It's lost a bit of it's impact over the years, but it's still great. The opening lyric of the first verse sucks me in every time.

Yeah, I definitely agree this deserved to be an album track. Itβs too brilliant to be watered down by radio mixes. The ending is iconic.

Yeah this is fine and an example of her mixing of genres, but it wasn't single material. I wish the 1st verse lyric included "that's the way love goes" instead of "life" as a nod to the song on the album and to provide some cohesion. It would work in context, too.

I always liked this track. Never skipped it while listening to the cd. However I always wished it was edited down a bit. Purely for when I made mixes it took up too much space. Lol Until reading this thread I never noticed the beat sounded very similar to βIfββ¦
