I don't know if you all follow contemporary gospel music or not but, "You Brought The Sunshine" by the legendary Clark Sisters was one of the early songs to crossover to the R&B chart and it did it in 1984 peaking at #14 on that chart. In 2003 Kelly Price remade this classic and reuniting the sisters on record for the first time in 10 years. The group is composed of producer/songwriter/arranger EXTRODINARE Twinky Clark-Terrel, Jacky Clark-Chislom, Dorinda Clark-Cole, and the DYNAMITE, FIRECRACKER, often imitated but NEVER duplicated vocalist Karen Clark-Sheard.
This track marks a pinnacle in gospel music by charting so high on the R&B chart. Keep in mind that gospel artist even today no matter how cuurent their sound is RARELY chart on other charts outside of the gospel, christian contemporary, and religious charts.
The Clark Sisters are featured on Missy Elliot's album "This Is Not A Test" on the track "I'm Not Perfect" The has been a resurgence in the popularity as a group in the last 3 years becuase of their popularity amongst R&B singers.
FYI- Karen is signed to Elektra Dorinda is signed to Gospocentric Twinky is signed to Verity/Jive Jacky is still independant although she is scheduled to make her solo debut in March.

What a classic! When I first heard it growing up, I did not realize it was a gospel number until I heard one Sunday at my Grandma's house one Sunday (on a gospel radio show). Yeah, I love this song to death as well as Kelly Price's remake.

Excellent song. One of the greatest crossover gospel hits ever. No one does it quite like the Clarks.

Excellent song. One of the greatest crossover gospel hits ever. No one does it quite like the Clarks. Great song. They are one of Mariah's favorites. Mariah has recently stated she has been listening to a lot of Karen Clark Sheard and you can tell in some of her performance. Some of her runs and diction are becoming similiar to Karen's. Karen's new album on Atlantic Records is set for a 4th quarter release. Dorinda's album "The Rose of Gospel" is in stores on Aug. 16th. It's going to be FIRE because the live recording was GREAT! Jacky's album "Expectancy" is in stores now and features "Blessing Me" with her sisters. Twinkie is recieving a tribute on August 6th ot Foxwoods Casino in Conneticutt. The Clark Sisters will be in concert and TD Jakes' MegaFest in Atlanta on August 4th and the sisters are in concert again on August 8th in Ontario, California. The sisters are also preparing for the first album since 1994's "Miracle." And there first with Twinkie since 1989's "Conqueror's".

One of my favorites from them. Surprisingly this was influenced by Stevie Wonder's "Master Blaster". I bet it was a big risk considering the legalistic nature of the churches at the time.
It's great.

LOVE IT! My favorite gospel song ever. Classic. Karen's daughter Kierra had that song "You Don't Know" out several years ago that was clearly influenced by this.
