Although this wasn't much of a hit back when it was released in 1974 (it only made it to #64 on the Hot 100), it's a classic with an instantly recognizable guitar riff, and I always felt it was way ahead of it's time.
Here's the All Music Guide review.

I've been on such a David Bowie kick for the last month, and I always end up playing this song, "Suffragette City", and "Queen Bitch" over and over and over again.
Such a good song. He's amazing.

Bowie had some great songs in the 70s, this is one of my favorites. It might not have been big on the pop charts but it got a lot of play on AOR. I suppose you're right, Josh, about it being ahead of its time, but on that score it was so dramatically overshadowed by Kraftwerk's Autobahn, which sounds like a techno tune from the 90s although it was released at about the same time as this tune, that I never noticed.

I love it. As well as a lot of other Bowie stuff.

This is invariably fantastic. The guitar riff never fails to grab my attention.

This was the first Bowie song I'd ever heard. I wish the rest of Diamond Dogs was this great.
