HORRIBLE! Richard Lugo's "Boom" was heavily hyped online through his street team. Everywhere I went online in 2001, there was all this talk about him. I wouldn't have minded if the song was actually good. I still can't listen to it today. There were so many copies of his singles at every store I went to. Surprisingly, his official site is still up so you can listen to "Boom": www.elektra.com/elektra/richardlugo/

I'll listen to it after I finish listening to "Cleopatra's Theme"! I remember him in all the teen magazines that Angela Via was in.
Horrible song! I might have actually liked it in 2001 if I saw enough people raving about it online. I liked anything that teenyboppers praised back then. Even Lolly!

Guilty pleasure for me. I saw him and Jessica Riddle open for BBMak in Jacksonville. Nothing special, but the song was pretty catchy. I didn't like how unenergetic the people yelling "Boom" in the background sounded.

I remember there were features about this singer in Teen People and ads in Billboard for this single unfortunately all that hype and promotion was not enough to make Richard Lugo happen. The song itself wasn't bad, but it was just not memorable. It felt like a Latin/Pop version of Jordan Knight's then-recent hit "Give It To You". The remix version by Cibola was more Freestyle-oriented.
