I don't remember if I made the topic here or on R&R. It was probably R&R.
Anyway, Evelyn King is my favorite disco artist of all time. This is my favorite song by her and my favorite disco track of all time as well.
I love how the verses are sweet balladry, and the chorus comes in all loud and empowered. The vocals are fantastic. On top of that, since this song didn't really cross over, it doesn't have that supercheesiness that lot of crossover disco songs did. It's still her third biggest hit behind "Shame" and "Love Come Down" coming in at #23 on the Hot 100 and #7 R&B.

...and speaking of samples, this was used for Chubb Rock's "I Gotta Get Mine, Yo" back in the early 90's. I don't think it was a single though.

you're right, it takes a rare song to be able to have such an off-the-hook chorus and then have really laid back verses, and make it work

Did you download this from my AI suggestion? :)
I love this song. It's killer and has held up suprisingly well. The horns in the intro are awesome, and the sax just takes it to another level. Just all around great disco production.

My 2nd favorite track from her after "Shame". As a kid, I first heard it from a 90s house track that sampled it and didn't hear the original track until years later on V103 and defunct 103.5 Jammin' Oldies. I don't Know if it's Right www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fc_f1RkqVkM
