^ nice article, but her first album was mainly recorded stateside, so there's no big difference there.

Round up of come of the latest stuff:
2 and a half songs completed with Ryan Tedder. She's been in the studio with Justin Timberlake who got in top cellist/arranger Larry Gold to work on the track. She was in the studio yesterday with Precize/Scott Cutler. And Krucial (Alicia Keys collaborator) has said they're supposed to work together soon.

They're aiming for around October/November I think. :)

Lol did yall get the chalice thing from the twitter update? I did... I love twitter! No, I got it direct from the Chalice website. Actually I was reading some chatter about the back street boys and their fans saw a photo of them on the website and they were wondering if the photo was recent, one of them happened to mention that the photo of Leona looked recent which peaked my interest, so I went looking. I posted the link to the photo around the other music boards. Heres some more info from Neyo quote: Ne-Yo has confirmed he's been busy penning music for Leona Lewis. The RnB star - who palled up with the X Factor winner when they worked on her Spirit album - told the Daily Star: "I've another big ballad ready for Leona." The singer-songwriter, whose hits include Closer and Sexy Love, went on: "She has a niche, a style that's already here. She has a phenomenal voice so I don't need her to dance. I can give her songs she can dazzle us with." www.google.com/hostednews/ukpress/article/ALeqM5hVipVjtDMAZ6jifUuhDIaNFkI-AA

Ne-Yo Confirms That He is Writing Songs for X-Factor Winner Leona Lewis25-Mar-2009 Written by: Stephen Ruback The rhythm and blues sensation is also trying to encourage her to gain more experience performing live. For many years, Ne-Yo has provided some of the most critically acclaimed R&B artists in the world, including Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Beyoncé Knowles, Whitney Houston and Christina Milian, with exceptionally written songs that they have turned into chart-topping hits. The multi-talented R&B singer/songwriter/producer has confirmed that he is currently writing ballads for X-Factor winner and multi-platinum selling artist Leona Lewis. Ne-Yo commented on Lewis’s musical talents and how she does not necessarily need to conform to a commercialized dancing style by saying, "She has a niche, a style that's already here. She has a phenomenal voice so I don't need her to dance. I can give her songs she can dazzle us with." The songs that he is currently writing for Lewis are expected to be featured on Lewis’s upcoming album. Ne-Yo has also publicly advised Lewis, who is admittedly very shy, to open up and gain more experience performing live so that she can begin to feel more comfortable in regards to her stage presence. Ne-Yo provided a comment in regards to his belief that Lewis should attempt to gain more experience because of her naturally shy personality. He said, "In this business, people want to know you, so you've got to be willing to give it. I hope she starts doing shows to build up her stage presence as it's something you have to train for." www.thecelebritycafe.com/features/26012.html

Well, working with all these today's standards I dare her not to sound like a victim of the era becoming every other R&B singer the 00's have produced.

Leona is just Mad for Timba2/04/2009 First she snubbed the Brits, now Leona Lewis is proving she's a true diva by taking on Madonna's musical crown. We can reveal the Hackney lass has nicked the Queen of Pop's producer Timbaland - the mastermind behind her comeback album Hard Candy. Leona will work with Timbs on the long-awaited follow-up to her debut album Spirit this month. And with Justin Timberlake, Will .I.Am and Jay-Z lined up to work with her too, her music is set for a racy makeover. An insider said: "Timbaland can't wait to work with Leona and make her feisty like Beyonce and Rihanna. "The ballads will still be there but the tracks will be racier and there'll be dancefloor anthems too." A spokesman for Leona said: "It's early stages but we're all very excited." www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2009/04/02/leona-is-just-mad-for-timba-115875-21247141/

Timbaland, Justin and Ne-Yo? Sounds like Good Girl Gone Bad.
These writers and producers are obvious choices but I've a feeling this album will be "been there, done that."

I want her to have a consistent sounding album, if that makes sense? Spirt was all over the place, so surely with the second album they have found her style and are able to make an album that flows well.

I share people's concerns but I personally have been waiting for a Leona/Timbaland hook up since day one. Whether the album is consistent I very much doubt but I am sure it will be full of hits and introduce us to a much more rnb sound

Timbaland, Justin, Ne-Yo and Jay-Z as well now. Hip Hop Pop, it's what I don't like so not excited. Transforming her to the 00's standard. Like I said, thought she would though. Clichéd.

I would take those names with a large pinch of salt. Afterall, it is an article from The Mirror--tabloid!! And I don't think Leona is going to go down the HipHop/Urban route. She has previously stated that she wants her new record to be more live/rock sounding (i.e. Run) so it sounds that she's going to be more of a modernized Celine Dion rather than Christina Aguilera/Mariah Carey.

Just stating. Tabloid or not, better take this thing serious. Timbaland and Timberlake confirmed already. Seen it happen one too many times myself. Experience preaches it's best for fanbase to make themselves known from the getaway. Haven't heard anything Rock related nor interesting up to this point. It's all the same stale Hip Hop Pop to me. Mariah Carey's my all time favorite artist BTW. She's in need of reinvention IMO, but that's another topic. I still have an interest in both ladies for Mariah's past achievements and Leona her stellar debut album. Therefore my feedback. Maybe they'll get something out of it, maybe they won't but it's worh a try. :) Whitney Houston, a second fave's working her comeback album which sounds promising. Janet Jackson and Celine Dion after that but not Pop relevant at this point. Needing to work that.

Random but "comeback album" for Madonna? =/ Hm. Okay. I didn't even realize she went away lol.
Some pretty big names producing on her album. I hope that if she does explore rock, she keeps it on the lighter side.

Timbaland, Justin and Ne-Yo? Sounds like Good Girl Gone Bad. EXACTLY. But I want Leona to sing songs that are just a tad bit more R&B-ish. Kinda like Mariah back in her old days.

I hope that if she does explore rock, she keeps it on the lighter side. Yeah, like she'll do Heavy Metal. That's a nonexistence this decade. Wouldn't hurt her though, I happen to be a big fan of Classic Rock. Another thing lacking. Rock music's been dead all throughout the 00's with its nerdy Alternative and freak image. This generation doesn't know what Rock even is no more. About time someone with actual power takes upon the genre. Hasn't been done since the early 90's. Maybe in time.

From the Star....
Leona Lewis is turning to the brains behind Girls Aloud’s genius pop songs for her second album.
Music Week’s producer of the year receipients Xenomania penned five tracks for the follow-up to the Hackney gal’s multi million selling Spirit.
Songwriter Miranda Cooper told me:
“We are not going to change Leona’s style but it’s interesting for us to do something downbeat, tragic songs with a twist”.
Miranda and Xenomania other half Brian Higgins also won Music Sync of the Year for Gabriella Climi’s Sweet About me.

This sounds all over the place to me.... Ryan Tedder, Timbaland, Ne-Yo, Jay-Z all on the same album? It'll be Rock, R&B, Hot AC... all over the place. I think she should stick with the Pop / Rock / Hot AC songs... it will be tough for her to cross over to R&B and Hip-Hop stations primarily because when her first album came out, she was pegged as pop / Hot AC and Urban stations weren't playing I think that this is not a good move and could backfire for her. She should have went more in the Kelly Clarkson, Pink direction instead of going in the Rihanna, Beyonce, Mariah (Keri Hilson, Jazmine Sullivan, Mary J Blige, etc, etc, etc) direction. Next thing you know she'll have a song with T-Pain or TI Oh well.... as long as she doesn't rap about needing a double shot-te of a soy latte , it's not too bad.
