Leona Lewis Teaming Up With Michael Jackson? Rumors have been running rampant that aspiring comeback kid Michael Jackson has his eye on Leona Lewis and hopes to have her perform with him in his upcoming tour, and the British babe certainly didn’t deny it when we caught up with her on last week following her performance T-Mobile Sidekick’s GRAMMY Celebration Concert Tour in Hollywood. "I don’t know, I’d love to perform with Michael Jackson," she said with a sly smile. "So we’ll see."And even though those reports that "X-Factor" producer Simon Cowell bought her a $5 million mansion in the Hollywood Hills are actually false, Lewis assured us the two are still pretty good pals. "I still talk to Simon lots, I am signed to his label and he’s still very much involved in the things I do," she added. "He’s honest, very brutal." www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,516932,00.html

BETTER IN TIME was actually the single that KILLED the album. While it didn't flop, it just was the most blandest and weakest follow-up ever. Doing FORGIVE ME as 2nd and ANGEL/or YESTERDAY as 3rd, and I WILL BE as 4th would have kept the album selling WELL into this year. Instead the label went the E=MC2 route and dropped the ball. agreed, Better in time completely killed her momentum. horrible choice for a follow up single. The fact that it didn't even reach the Top 10 on the Hot 100 despite getting tons of promo and being released on the back of a monster like Bleeding Love is very telling. It would've made the perfect 3rd single. Bleeding Love Forgive Me Better in time Take A Bow With those releases the album would be closing in on 2XP right now. More importantly she would have momentum going and would continue to be in the spotlight. I hope they can revive her momentum with the second album but they basically have to start from the bottom again People on this site really overrate 'Forgive Me'. It's completely average. If Beyonce or Rihanna recorded it it would be one of the weakest tracks on their current albums and nobody would give it the time of day. Also it doesn't suit her at all as she isn't very good at projecting any personality into her music (yet). Also it really wasn't much of a hit in Europe so I don't see why you think it would have been so huge in America. 'Run' was the missed opportunity of this era, not Forgive Me.

In my opinion "Run" wasn't going to save the album. People was tired of ballads, so maybe Forgive Me would have been a better choice, but Run was also a good choice for a single, so sad they didn't released any of those songs in the US.

Forgive me is nothing special AT ALL, and thats why it did average. Run is really good tho. Ballads are leonas thing so it suits her, even if it can get a little tiring. Putting her in the sexy forgive me video was so not her

I think Leona can do uptempo songs, but sexy RnB songs are just a complete no-go for her at the moment. The poor girl has the personality of roadkill.

I don't understand why people think "Forgive Me" would have saved Leona in the U.S
It sounded like a flop to me.

I'm not the biggest Leona fan, but I'm curious to hear the sound she's going for.

I don't understand why people think "Forgive Me" would have saved Leona in the U.S It sounded like a flop to me. Would have done way better than "I Will be" did at least, only peaking at #25 on CHR.

No one is claiming it would've been a monster #1 hit but I'm sure it would've done much better than 'I Will Be'. And that's all she needed at least another mid size hit.

I would have taken Forgive Me over I Will Be. I Will Be was one of the worst possible choices for a third single to me.

I actually thought "Better in Time" was the strongest choice for second single. Everything else seemed so tepid.

And I'm shocked at all the wide variety of opinions as to what the singles should have been. I could have seen "Forgive Me" or especially "Take A Bow" being a successful third single. But I think it was great having "Better In Time" as the second. After all, it got me to buy the CD.

The X Factor singer had gone for a pleasant early-morning trot in LA when her stallion – a birthday present from her friends – suddenly turned on her. The beast headbutted her with such force her lip was split open and the star was knocked to the floor. The nasty incident forced her to postpone the recording of her new album while she recovered from the shock. A pal said: “Leona has been riding since she was a child and has never had a fear of horses. So she was really shaken up when the horse turned on her. “Something startled the horse and it flicked its head back and smacked Leona full in the face. “She was knocked flying by the force of it. Everyone rushed over to see if she was OK, she was holding her face in agony. “Thankfully she didn’t need any surgery, but she was told to stay at home and rest just in case she passed out with concussion. “She doesn’t blame the horse though – it was just one of those things.” Luckily, Leona’s face wasn’t messed up too badly and she seemed to be healing nicely as she went shopping on Melrose Avenue yesterday in the LA sunshine. But her new album will have to wait. “She had been due in the studio to record, but she felt shaken up so they had to cancel,” our source went on. “It has pushed everything back, but she’s such a grafter she’ll easily make up for lost time.” The incident comes hot on the hooves of Madonna getting bucked off her horse. Maybe it would be safer if all female singers hung up their stirrups and jodhpurs and walked everywhere instead? Saddle be the day!

Take A Bow was her only other surefire hit imo. I love Leona's take on "I Will Be," and it wasn't a bad choice for a single, but "Take A Bow" screamed SINGLE to me from the first listen. Rihanna just scoring a hit with the same name must have had something to do with Leona's not being relased right? I mean, I know they have nothing to do with each other but it just keeps nagging at me. (btw. How amazing would dance remixes of Leona's "Take A Bow" have been?)

In terms of airplay, yes, "Better In Time" was solid. But seriously it killed the momentum for the era in every single way. An uptempo would have been the way to go to get her back on track.
One problem is her label is picking singles based on her UK audience. That's cool, if you want her to cater to only that audience like Girls Aloud or Take That and NEVER succeed in the US. But this is America, bland ballads are NOT going to hit it.
Also what was the point of putting the new "Americanized" tracks on the CD: Forgive Me and Misses Glass if you weren't going to release them. Timbaland is a good look for her. But she is going to have to start ALL OVER again since America forgot about her back in August.

What was the point of putting Forgive Me on there, recording a video that clearly was tailored to US audience..and then not releasing it ??? They better pull their heads out of their asses for this next era and hope they can come up with killer material and vision that goes beyond the lead single or it won't be pretty at all. Like you said they basically have to start from scratch, since after Bleeding Love her momentum completely fizzled out due to mediocre single choices. They went with a very safe and very short sighted approach that might (and will IMO) cost them in the long run.

With the top 4 best selling albums last year all being British and with 2 of them having minimal impact in the US, its becoming clear that the US has become an irrelevance when it comes to the bottom line figures. I worry that this over reliance on US producers is going to be counter productive when she should be aiming at a rotw market. I'm glad that Xenomania have been involved.
